Bandara ini terletak di pulau [[Chek Lap Kok]] dan sejak dibuka pada tahun [[1998]], menjadi salah satu pusat transit yang penting di dunia karena posisinya yang strategis. Bandara berkapasitas sebesar 45 juta [[penumpang]] dengan 3 juta ton [[kargo]] dan setelah [[landas pacu]] kedua dibuka pada [[Mei]] [[1999]], kapasitas meningkat menjadi 87 juta penumpang dan 9 juta ton kargo.
