=== Awal karier ===
Lahir di kota Tallahasse, [[Florida]], [[Amerika Serikat]]. Ia mulai menyukai musik/lagu pada awal 1961 dan membentuk grup musik bernama "The Rumours" bersama 2 orang temannya, [[Gram Parsons]] and [[Jim Stafford]]. Pada tahun 1964, saat ia kuliah di Universitas Florida, ia menjadi anggota kelompok pemusik bernama "Sugar Beats" dan bertemu dengan produsernya, Phil Gernhard. Salah satu lagunya berjudul "What Am I Doing Here".
Selama era 1960-an, Kent LaVoie bergabung dengan banyak grup musik, diantaranya "US Male", "The Uglies", dan "Me and the Other Guys". Saat ia bergabung di grup yang terakhir, ia bertemu dengan seorang pemusik bernama [[Billy Aerts]]. Bersama dengan Kent LaVoie, mereka menjadi pelopor berdirinya grup musik "Lobo" yang berkarya selama era 70-an. Ciptaan pertama mereka diantaranya: "Happy Days In New York City" dan "My Friend Is Here".

Tahun 1971, Kent LaVoie mulai menjuluki dirinya sendiri dengan kata "Lobo" (dari bahasa Spanyol, ''Lobo'' yang berarti "serigala"). Akhirnya pada bulan Maret 1971, mereka merilis lagu pertama, yakni berjudul "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo". Dan masih pada tahun yang sama, bulan September, kembali merilis album lagi, yang berjudul "California Kid And Reemo".
Kemudian tahun 1972, mereka merilis lagi dengan judul "Of A Simple Man". Lagu-lagu mereka sangat digemari oleh masyarakat luas, diantaranya yang berjudul "I'd Love You to Want Me" dan "Don't Expect Me To Be Your Friend". Lagu-lagu mereka terjual dengan jumlah yang sangat besar di [[Inggris]] dan [[Jerman]]. Lagu-lagu lain yang juga populer adalah"It Sure Took A Long, Long Time", "How Can I Tell Her", dan "Standing at the End of the Line".

Juni, 1974, Lobo merilis album berjudul "Just A Singer" yang berisi beberapa lagu yang bukan atau tidak ditulis oleh Lobo. Salah satu judul lagunya adalah "Rings". "Don't Tell Me Goodnight" juga merupakan salah satu lagu ciptaan Lobo yang populer. Album lainnya yakni "Would I Still Have You" dan "The Best of Lobo". Single yang sukses dirilis pada periode 70-80an diantaranya: "At First Sight", "It's Everywhere", "Afterglow", "You Are All I'll Ever Need", "Where Were You When I Was Falling In Love", "Holding On For Dear Love", "With A Love Like Ours", "Fight Fire With Fire", "I Don't Want To Want You", "Come Looking For Me", "Living My Life Without You", dan "Bull Smith Can't Dance the Cotton Eye Joe". Pada tahun 1985, Lobo kembali merilis single terbarunya yakni berjudul "Am I Going Crazy" dan "Paint The Town Blue".
