Nama artikel ini yang diperdebatkan bukan isinya. Masak diberi tag kontroversial? Meursault2004ngobrol 00:00, 29 Maret 2008 (UTC)

My two cents
My two cents re Iditiotic NON debate re Tionghoa vs Cina

In the West, especially Dutch, German and English "China" is prevalent to the point of total non-contention between China and Tionghoa. Yet some Chinese (note only Indonesian) feel illogically offended at the Indonesianisation of the DUTCH-French Chinois or China. Tionghoa is completely Hokkien biased- elevating the language status of a very small minority language above the official Mandarin.
I think the influence of Dutch and French language upon Indonesian has been overlooked in this whole silly debate. Cina/China is already in the public domain- surely the Hokkien don't expect every major language to revise itself to fit immature and exaggerated sensitivities because of some totally random homonym?

Why the offense exists is beyond reason: 1.3 billion Chinese on the mainland do not seem to have a problem happily addressing themselves as Chinese, speaking/eating/dreaming Chinese things and residing in China- with its' Great Wall of... China. HWere are the 2008 Olympics? China. No one travels to Shanghai "Tionghoa" they go to Shanghai in China! Ask a Shanghainese where the tastiest Tionghoa food is and they'll be WTF are you smoking?!!

Have you heard the Thai people kicking up a fuss and flying off the handle simply because a homonym for faeces happens to be coincidentally "Tai" in Indonesian? Do black people get offended when they see "Coon" brand cheese (a common Irish surname) in Australia? No- of course not! Do Japanese have a hissy fit when they see the common Dutch name "Jaap"?. No.

Oh- I just thought of more- Africans calling their nations "Niger" and "Nigeria"- both of which may be misread? Are Dutch lesbians being militant about the Dutch water barriers also called dykes? Are Gays up in arms about the traditional British food "faggots" (like meatballs) or bassoon in Romance languages (fagotte etc)? Are freckly people mad as hell and on the war march about the British food "Spotted Dick"? Are the Irish jumping up and down just because Asians call their rice terraces "Paddies"?

Hokkien community oversensitivites (note- itself a linguistic and cultural minority within the Mandarin Han/Wu dominated mainland to the point of comparatively NEGLIGIBLE population numbers) is thus not only arbitrary, totally one-sided and trite- it borders on the comical because of its total irrationality and non-logic.For example, if I as a white were to follow this absurd Hokkein illogic, as a bule I should get offended at Indonesians calling me an "orang" just as it matches half the English word "orang-utang"- as I stupidly think they're all saying I'm an ape? Grow up please children- it's like giggling over Winnie the Pooh or Mr Wang's surname. 125.161.133.239

Bicara bahasa Indonesia, bung.
#coons, dykes, faggots, paddies, etc... APA HUBUNGANNYA DENGAN BAHASA INDONESIA??? bawa saja rasisme Anda ke tempat lain, diskusi ini bukan tentang etnisisme/sukuisme/rasisme.
