Anthony Giddens
Anthony Giddens, Baron Giddens (lahir 18 Januari 1938) adalah sosiolog asal Britania Raya.[1] Ia adalah seorang sosiolog Inggris yang terkenal karena teori strukturasi dan pandangan menyeluruh tentang masyarakat modern.[2]

Ia dianggap sebagai salah satu kontributor sosiologi modern.[3] Tiga tahap terpenting dapat diidentifikasi di dalam kehidupan akademisnya.[1] Hal yang pertama yaitu melibatkan penjabaran sebuah visi baru tentang apa sosiologi itu, menyajikan pemahaman teoritis dan metodologis dari bidang itu, berdasarkan reinterpretasi kritis terhadap klasik.[4] Pada tahap kedua Giddens mengembangkan teori strukturasi, analisis agen dan struktur, di mana keutamaan diberikan kepada keduanya. Karya-Nya periode itu, seperti Pusat Permasalahan dalam Teori Sosial (1979) dan Konstitusi Masyarakat (1.984), membawa dia terkenal di dunia internasional pada arena sosiologis.[5]
