History

The first edition of the Banjarmasin Post was published on August 2 1971 with 8 tabloid-sized pages. The originator is H.J. Djok Mentaya, Yustan Aziddin and H. Gt. Rusdi Effendi AR. Initially the office was at Pasar Bim (Pasar Baru). In 1974, the Banjarmasin Post purchased a Heidelberg brand printing machine, making it the first newspaper in Kalimantan to have a modern printing machine; Two years later, this newspaper purchased an IBM typewriter for the layout process so that it no longer used a linotype machine. In the 1980s, Banjarmasin Post moved offices from Pasar Baru to Jl MT Haryono and started a computerized system. Issues for the Village Entry Newspaper (KMD) were published until 1992. The office burned down on November 4 1989, but on August 2 1990 the Banjarmasin Post occupied a new building on Jalan M.T. In 1995 Banjarmasin Post officially merged with Kompas Gramedia. This year, Yustan Aziddin, who also wrote the story of Si Palui, died. In November 1999 the Serambi Ummah tabloid was published, which is now an insert every Friday in the Banjarmasin Post.

In 2005 Banjarmasin Post moved to the Hj Djok Mentaya Building on Jalan As Musyafa Banjarmasin. Apart from that, this newspaper started printing remotely, with printing in Liang Anggang.

In April 2011, Banjarmasin Post received the Gold Award as the best presentation in Asia from WAN IFRA-World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers. After this, this newspaper won many national awards. In June of the same year, this newspaper launched the online media banjarmasinpost.co.id. On August 2 2017, Banjarmasin Post transformed into multiplatform media, namely print, online, video, live FB, and Tribun EO.

Media expansion

Banjarmasin Post expanded its media in 1999 by launching various publications, apart from Serambi Ummah. On May 19 1999, the weekly tabloid Gratis was published, highlighting social realities and phenomena, the first of which was published in 24 pages. On June 6 2005, the Spirit South Kalimantan tabloid was published replacing the Gratis tabloid. Growing to 16 pages and containing government public relations news, this tabloid was closed three years later.

On September 9 1999, the daily Metro Banjar was born, the first urban and crime newspaper for Banjarmasin and its surroundings to be published with 8 pages. Metro Banjar published the last edition on December 31 2019.

Banjarmasin Post also manages the news portal Banjarmasinpost.co.id (or known as BPost Online), which is part of Tribunnews.com. Based on Google Analytics data, when it was first launched until 2017, the average daily visits to this portal were still below 100,000. After 2017, the average number of visits per day increased to around 900,000 at the end of 2018. At the beginning of 2019, the average daily visits reached above 1,000,000.
