Telkom University

Telkom University, or abbreviated Tel-U (/ˈtɛ[invalid input: 'l-ˈ']juː/), is a private university in Indonesia. Tel-U main campus is located in the southern hemisphere of Kota Bandung, West Java, precisely on Jalan Telecommunications – Terusan Buah Batu, in the area of Bandung Technoplex (BT-Plex). Other campuses are located in the area of Gegerkalong HIlir, in the northern hemisphere of Bandung, at the office of PT. Telkom (Innovation and Development Center Telkom and Telkom Corporate University / Telkom Training Center). Telkom University is a merger of four institutions under the organizing body Telkom Education Foundation (YPT), namely Telkom Institute of Technology (IT Telkom), Telkom Institute of Management (IM Telkom), Polytechnic Telkom, and the High School of Art and Design Indonesia Telkom (STISI Telkom).

Telkom University was established on August 14, 2013 by the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Kemendikbud No. 309 / E / 0/2013. Telkom University was a collage which is organized by Telkom Education Foundation, an amalgamation of four Colleges, namely Telkom Institute of Technology (IT Telkom), Telkom Institute of Management (IM Telkom), Polytechnic Telkom, and the High School of Art and Design Indonesia Telkom (STISI Telkom).

Telkom Institute of Technology formerly College of Technology Telkom (STT Telkom). Telkom Institute of Management formerly College of Management and Business Telkom (STMB Telkom). STT Telkom and STMB Telkom established in 1990 on the initiative of PT. Telkom, which at that time was led by the Managing Director Ir. Cacuk Sudarijanto. Both the high school was the first university in Indonesia, which has the particularity of education in the field of telecommunications and information technology industries.

Telkom University campus located in Bandung region Technoplex. The campus is the development of STT Telkom campus which was inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Suharto in March 24, 1994. In the past, the area is the location of the placement of the second oldest radio stations in Indonesia owned by the Dutch colonial government, which then joined the news proclaimed the Declaration of Independence of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia on 17 August 1945 to various parts of the world. The value of history and the works of the three responsibilities that have been generated by previous college campuses will inspire Telkom University continues to evolve into a nation and at the same college campus world (World Class University) that will always create the future (Creating the Future) through the development of cross-culture global academic atmosphere and academia. The Nick name of Tel-U and moto “Creating the Future” were the idea given by Dr. Ir. Arief Yahya, M.Sc., Managing Director / CEO of PT. Telecommunications Indonesia, Tbk when Telkom University was founded as a merger of IT Telkom, IM Telkom, Telkom Polytechnic, and STISI Telkom.

Before joining into Telkom University, the four campuses each Telkom Institute of Technology, Institute of Management Telkom, Telkom Polytechnic and College of Arts and Design Indonesia Telkom has produced the works of Tridharma University that has huge contribution in the frame of Higher Education in Indonesian history. By merging into one college, Telkom University, then the entire strength of the fourth campus will be a synergy of forces that can produce greater Tridharma contribution to increase the nation's competitiveness in the face of globalization through the organization and development of education, research and community service in various clumps of science with the strengthening of the peculiarities in the field of information and communication technology (ICT). Through the merger, Telkom University also further increased its strategic role in the organization of higher education are able to develop science, technology, and art and produce intellectuals, scientists, and / or professionals who are cultured and creative, tolerant, tough character, and dare to uphold truth national interest, in the minds of the people, and to promote science, technology, and art by observing and implementing the values of humanities as well as the cultivation and sustainable empowerment of the Indonesian nation.

The History of IT Telkom

Telkom Institute of Technology (IT Telkom) - formerly known as STT Telkom - the first institution specializing in Indonesian studies program in the field of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT). IT Telkom is projected to prepare experts in the field of ICT, skilled and insightful business, in response to the demands of the development of the ICT industry is so rapid.

Telkom Institute of Technology (IT Telkom) at its inception named College of Technology Telkom (STT Telkom). Establishment of consciousness begins STT Telkom Ir. Cacuk Sudarijanto that in 1990, when it served as President Director of PT. Telkom, will be the rapid development of information and communication technologies must be matched by the willingness of qualified human resources. The existence of climate change in the telecommunications industry and with the commencement of PT Telkom entered the era of going public, then the scholarship program and a bond was stopped and further mass STT Telkom became an independent college.

At the beginning of standing, STT Telkom campus is spread across three locations, namely Campus-1 in Jalan Soekarno Hatta, Campus-2 in Jalan Hilir Gegerkalong, and campus-3 located at Jalan Haji Hasan Mustafa prince. In 1993 STT Telkom has its own campus in Jalan Telecommunications Canal Buahbatu (current location), and a year later all teaching and learning activities centered on the new campus. In the same year STT Telkom Campus President Mr. Soeharto inaugurated on March 24, 1994. It occupies an area of 48 hectares, the campus of STT Telkom has good educational facilities with the arrangement beautiful environment, so that the learning process takes place more conducive.

STT Telkom improve organizational form into IT Telkom on 20 November 2007. In the process of merging into Telkom University in 2013, IT Telkom transformed into the Faculty of Engineering (FT) or Telkom Engineering School (TES). Furthermore, in 2014 the Faculty of Engineering developed into three faculties, namely: 1). Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FTE) or the School of Electrical Engineering (SEE), 2). The History of IM Telkom

Telkom Institute of Management (IM Telkom) has started its journey since 1990 with the name of MBA-Bandung, then in 1994 changed its name to College of Management Bandung (STMB), and in 2004 again renamed the College of Business Management Telkom (STMB Telkom ) .Transformasi become Telkom Institute of Management (IM Telkom) occurred in 2008. The first campus MBA-Bandung is Building H and I Telkom Training Center Complex located at 47 Jalan Hilir Gegerkalong Bandung.

MBA-Bandung is organizing a Master in Business Administration program first in West Java, ahead of similar programs were then organized by public universities in Bandung. At the beginning of its establishment, the MBA-schooled Bandung fully adopt the system of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) Philipines, which at that time was known as the Harvard Business School of Asia. When established, the professors of AIM teaching and guiding the implementation of the MBA program until 1995. With this condition, in 1992 MBA Bandung successful entry into the seven best business schools SWA magazine, together with IPPM, IPMI, Prasetya Mulya, UI , and ITB.

Respond to government regulations regarding control of the implementation of MBA programs in Indonesia, then in 1994, MBA-Bandung changing the shape of its organization into High School under the name College of Management Bandung (STMB). With high school status, STMB change MBAnya program into the program Master of Management (MM). In addition, STMB also increasingly diversifying variant MMnya program, became program Regular MM, MM Executive, and MM Cooperative Education. On the occasion of the first accreditations held by the government, MM STMB accredited program A (Superior).

As the development of government regulation so that high school is not only held a post-graduate program, coupled with the desire of the Board of Directors PT.Telkom (at that time occupied by AA Nasution) in order STMB increasingly take part in the world of higher education, in 1997 STMB organizes stratum-1 (S-1 / scholar). Courses that opened in STMB at the time was S-1 Business Management of Telecommunications and Information Technology (MBTI). In the process of merging into Telkom University in 2013, IM Telkom transformed into the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) or Telkom Economics and Business School (Tebs). The History of Polytechnic Telkom

Telkom Polytechnic historical journey stems from two (2) training program which is engaged in the field of ICT, namely: Professional Program STT Telkom, and NIIT & Telkom Center. Both of these training institutes then merge to form a new institution of higher education who specialized in the field of vocational education. On 27 September 2007, the Polytechnic Telkom inaugurated by the President Director of PT. Telecommunications Indonesia Tbk., Mr. Rinaldi Firmansyah. Faculty of Applied Sciences (FIT) / School of Applied Science (SAS).

Telkom Polytechnic comes with a mission to contribute to the Indonesian nation and the world community by producing graduates who have an international outlook and have the ability to compete globally. TYPICAL Development System (Knowledge, Hardskill, Attitude and Softkill) are aspects which will continue to be developed as a preparation to enter the industry. Applied learning system using System Comence approach, namely: coaching - mentoring - coaching. This method is an appropriate means for vocational education that promotes increased competence in the field of ICT.

As the new vocational college, the presence of Telkom Polytechnic bring an atmosphere of academic competition is getting higher. In 2011 Telkom Polytechnic students won a student competition perprestasi National level as the third winner, and the following year ie in 2012 won the first student perprestasi national level. Not only that, in English, Telkom Polytechnic team in 2013 won second place for the National Polytechnic English Olympic competition at polytechnic level in Indonesia, and in 2012 won the Third Place National University Debating Competition for competition at the college level generally as Indonesia.

Telkom Polytechnic also cooperating closely enough with the industrial world. At the end of 2012 Telkom Polytechnic renew the concept of Industrial Work activity, the student will be involved professionally in the industry and got the same treatment as well as regular employees. That is, students who take the program Industrial Work will get remuneration and other rights as an employee. Until the year 2013 already more than 500 students are absorbed by the industry in the Industrial Work program involving more than 20 companies in the telecommunications industry, banking, information systems, media, consumer goods, and one of the representative body of the International Labour Organization.

The History of STISI Telkom

High School of Art and Design or STISI Telkom Telkom Indonesia is one of the pioneer universities specialized in the field of Art and Design, the most comprehensive study program. STISI Telkom focus its graduates to become experts in the field of art and design skills, insight, and maximize the potential of entrepreneurship, as a response to the demands of society and the needs of creative indrustri Indonesia and the world very rapidly.

During 23 years of existence, more than 1,200 alumni of the program Visual Communications Design Studies, Interior Design, Product Design, Textile and Fashion Craft, who holds S.Ds. (Bachelor of Design), as well as the Fine Arts (Painting and Sculpture) who holds S.Sn. (Bachelor of Arts), has also contributed significantly to the development of Creative indrustri Indonesia, through diverse portfolio of artwork and designs that are used in various industrial sectors and development. Telkom University emblem consists of a logogram "the open book at the top of the shield" which as a whole form the letter ""T"" at the top of the letter ""U"" and the words "Telkom University". The meaning of basic shapes "the open book at the top of the shield" on the symbol of Telkom University:

  1. The basic form of "shield" represents solid academic institutions and perseverance.
  2. The main form of "open book" on top of the shield symbolizes the openness of mind and imagination, ready to develop innovations and new science.
  3. Initials letter ""T"" of the word "Telkom" give meaning and identity to jointly develop self-pride.

Telkom University provides facilities that support the e-Learning lecture as a learning supplement devices. Neither the technology used as well as learning material for e-Learning facility is being developed through various program activities, sustainable, involving Tel-U Academic Board and reviewer consisting of professors and education experts from various universities partnership. Commitment to the development of e-Learning facility is part of initiative CELOE (Center of e-Learning and Open Education) implementation Telkom University.
