Masjid Agung Aljazair
Djamaa el Djazair (bahasa Arab: جامع الجزائر), juga dikenal sebagai Masjid Agung Aljir atau Masjid Agung Aljazair (bahasa Prancis: Grande mosquée d'Alger), adalah masjid di Aljir, Aljazair. Menara masjid tersebut merupakan tertinggi di dunia dan juga masjid terbesar ketiga di dunia setelah Masjid Agung Mekah dan Al-Masjid an-Nabawi dari Madinah di Arab Saudi berdasarkan luas kompleks.[1][2][3][4]

The mosque also has a 265 m (869 ft) tall minaret, which makes it the tallest building in Africa.[7] It also houses an observation deck atop the minaret, which has 37 floors. The mosque is designed to withstand an earthquake of magnitude 9.0 and the structure has been specially processed to resist corrosion. The main prayer hall has 618 octagonal columns serving as support pillars and 6 km (3.7 mi) of calligraphic writing engraved with a laser system. The dome of the prayer hall has a diameter of 50 m (160 ft) and rises to a height of 70 m (230 ft)
Sejarah
Pembangunan masjid dimulai pada Agustus 2012 setelah kontrak pembangunan dilelang oleh pemerintah Aljazair, seharga 1 miliar euro yang dimenangkan oleh China State Construction Engineering. Arsitektur masjid tersebut didesain oleh arsitek Jerman KSP Juergen Engel Architekten dan insinyur Krebs und Kiefer International. Pembangunan masjid sempat mengalami penundaan karena masalah anggaran yang disebabkan jatuhnya harga minyak. Sekitar 2.300 pekerja dari Cina, Aljazair dan negara-negara Afrika lainnya dikerahkan untuk mengerjakan pembangunan masjid tersebut. Pembangunan masjid dipandang oleh banyak orang sebagai simbol pemerintahan Presiden Abdelaziz Bouteflika yang telah lama menjabat.[5][6][7][8][9]

Arsitektur
Masjid Agung Aljir berdiri di atas lahan seluas 400,000 m2 menghadap utara, tepatnya ke Laut Mediterania. Ruang sholat memiliki kapasitas sebanyak 37.000 jamaah, sementara lahan kompleks masjid dapat menampung hingga 120.000 jamaah dan memiliki ruang parkir yang dapat diisi 7.000 mobil. Kompleks ini juga memiliki sekolah Alquran, taman, perpustakaan, area perumahan staf masjid, stasiun pemadam kebakaran, museum seni Islam, dan pusat penelitian tentang sejarah Aljazair.[5][8][2]
Masjid Agung Aljir juga memiliki menara setinggi 265 meter sehingga menjadi bangunan tertinggi di Afrika.[7] Di menara masjid juga tersedia dek observasi di lantai teratas. Masjid ini dirancang untuk menahan gempa berkekuatan 9,0 skala magnitudo dan struktur bangunan dirancang secara khusus untuk menahan korosi akibat cuaca yang ekstrim. Ruang sholat utama memiliki 618 kolom segi delapan yang berfungsi sebagai pilar penopang atau pondasi dan terdapat kaligrafi sepanjang 6 kilometer yang diukir dengan sistem laser. Kubah aula memiliki diameter sepanjang 50 meter dan memiliki ketinggian 70 meter.[8][10]
