"Hound Dog" adalah sebuah lagu twelve-bar blues yang ditulis oleh Jerry Leiber dan Mike Stoller. Awalnya direkam oleh Willie Mae "Big Mama" Thornton pada 13 Agustus 1952, di Los Angeles dan dirilis oleh Peacock Records pada akhir Februari 1953, "Hound Dog" adalah satu-satunya rekaman hit Thornton, terjual lebih dari 500,000 salinan, bertahan 14 pekan di tangga lagu R&B, termasuk tujuh pekan di #1.
