Vegetarisme dan agama
Praktik keagamaan tidak memakan daging
Vegetarianism memiliki keterkaitan yang kuat dengan sejumlah agama yang berasal dari India kuno (Jainisme, Hinduisme dan Buddhisme). Dalam Jainisme, vegetarianisme berlaku bagi setiap orang; dalam Hinduisme dan Buddha Mahayana, vegetarianisme dilakukan oleh beberapa orang atau otoritas keagamaan.[1][2] Sementara itu, dalam agama Abrahamik (Yudaisme, Kristen dan Islam) dan dalam Sikhisme, vegetarianisme tidak dipromosikan oleh otoritas secara menyeluruh,[3] meskipun dalam seluruh kepercayaan tersebu terdapat kelompok kecil yang aktif mempromosikan vegetarianisme pada lingkungan keagamaan.[4][5][6]
