Charlotte Salomon

Charlotte Salomon (16 April 1917 – 10 Oktober 1943) adalah seorang seniman Jerman-Yahudi yang lahir di Berlin. Dia terutama dikenang sebagai pencipta serangkaian lukisan otobiografi bertajuk Leben? oder Theater?: Ein Singspiel (Life? or Theater?: A Song-play) yang terdiri dari 769 karya individu yang dilukis antara tahun 1941 dan 1943 di selatan Prancis, sementara Salomon bersembunyi dari Nazi. Pada bulan Oktober 1943 dia ditangkap dan dideportasi ke Auschwitz, di mana dia dan anaknya yang belum lahir digas sampai mati oleh Nazi segera setelah kedatangannya.[1][2][3][4] Pada tahun 2015, pengakuan sembilan belas halaman oleh Salomon untuk keracunan fatal kakeknya, dirahasiakan selama beberapa dekade, dirilis oleh penerbit Paris.[5]
