Carrie Frances Fisher[2] (21 Oktober 1956 – 27 Desember 2016) adalah aktris, penulis naskah, pengarang, produser, dan pembicara asal Amerika Serikat. Ia dikenal sebagai pemeran Putri Leia dalam film-film Star Wars. Fisher juga dikenal sebagai pengarang beberapa novel semi-otobiografi seperti Postcards from the Edge dan naskah film adaptasinya. Ia juga menulis lakon otobiografinya dan buku nonfiksi Wishful Drinking yang diangkat dari lakon tersebut. Ia terlibat dalam berbagai film, termasuk Shampoo (1975), The Blues Brothers (1980), Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), The 'Burbs (1989), dan When Harry Met Sally... (1989).

Kehidupan awal
Fisher lahir di Beverly Hills, California, dari pasangan penyanyi Eddie Fisher dan aktris Debbie Reynolds.[3] Kakek-nenek dari sisi bapaknya merupakan imigran Yahudi Rusia. Ibunya dibesarkan sebagai seorang Nazarene dan memiliki keturunan Inggris dan Skotlandia-Irlandia.[4][5][6][7] Adiknya, Todd Fisher, adalah seorang produser dan aktor, sedangkan dua adik iparnya, Joely Fisher dan Tricia Leigh Fisher, sama-sama merupakan aktris. Ibu dari kedua adik iparnya, Connie Stevens, adalah seorang penyanyi dan aktris. Saat Fisher masih berusia dua tahun, orang tuanya bercerai setelah bapaknya meninggalkan Reynolds dan dekat dengan sahabat ibunya, aktris Elizabeth Taylor, mantan istri sahabat bapaknya, Mike Todd.[8] Tahun berikutnya, ibunya menikahi Harry Karl, pemilik jaringan toko sepatu, yang diam-diam menghabiskan tabungan Reynolds.[8]
Fisher sering "bersembunyi di balik buku" saat masih kecil sehingga dijuluki kutu buku oleh keluarganya.[9] Masa kecilnya dihabiskan dengan membaca buku-buku klasik dan menulis puisi. Ia bersekolah di Beverly Hills High School sampai usia 15 tahun ketika ia terjun sebagai debutante dan penyanyi dalam lakon Broadway berjudul Irene (1973) yang dibintangi ibunya.[10] Aktivitas ini mengganggu proses pendidikan Fisher sehingga ia tidak lulus SMA.[11] Pada tahun 1973, Fisher mengawali pendidikannya di London Central School of Speech and Drama selama 18 bulan.[12] Tahun 1978, Fisher mempelajari kesenian di Sarah Lawrence College. Akan tetapi, ia tidak sempat lulus karena telanjur terlibat dalam pembuatan film Star Wars.[13]
