Kereta api Pangrango adalah kereta api berstatus KA Komersial (kelas eksekutif dan ekonomi) Jarak Menengah milik PT Kereta Api Indonesia dengan relasi Stasiun Paledang - Stasiun Sukabumi. Kereta api Pangrango diresmikan Menteri Badan Usaha Milik Negara (BUMN) Dahlan Iskan pada 9 November 2013. Peresmian digelar bersamaan dengan pembukaan Stasiun Bogor Paledang. KA Pangrango beroperasi menggantikan KRD Bumi Geulis yang dihentikan sejak Desember 2012.

Susunan rangkaian kereta ini pada awal beroperasi terdiri satu lokomotif, tiga gerbong ekonomi AC, dua gerbong eksekutif, dan satu gerbong kereta makan pembangkit. Saat ini, okupansi Kereta Api Pangrango kelas ekonomi sangat tinggi dan okupansi kelas eksekutif menurun sehingga menggunakan susunan rangkaian 1 gerbong makan pembangkit ekonomi, satu gerbong eksekutif, dan empat gerbong ekonomi.

Kata Pangrango diambil dari nama Gunung Pangrango yang mempunyai ketinggian setinggi 3.019 meter dari permukaan laut yang berada di kawasan Taman Nasional Gede Pangrango ada di wilayah Kabupaten Bogor, Cianjur dan Kabupaten Sukabumi.

Stamformasi

Terhitung mulai tanggal 1 Januari 2016, layanan kelas eksekutif pada KA Pangrango /Siliwangi dihapus, jadi KA Pangrango/Siliwangi hanya membawa kereta ekonomi saja.^[1] Namun atas desakan dari para penumpang rute Bogor-Sukabumi dan sebaliknya, maka PT KAI Daerah Operasi I Jakarta memutuskan kembali menyediakan layanan kelas Eksekutif pada perjalanan Ka Pangrango mulai keberangkatan tanggal 21 Januari 2016.^[2]

Insiden

Tanggal 3 Januari 2014 pukul 14.05, KA 7118 Pangrango relasi Bogor Paledang - Sukabumi anjlok di Jembatan Pamoyanan Cicurug, Cicurug, Sukabumi, Jawa Barat dikarenakan adanya rel patah. Tidak ada korban jiwa dalam peristiwa ini. 1 kereta makan yang berada di rangkaian terakhir KA nyaris terguling akibat menginjak rel yang patah. Akhirnya kereta makan tersebut dilepaskan dan ditinggalkan dari rangkaian lalu kereta kembali berjalan tanpa aliran listrik & fasilitas restorasi. Perbaikan rel telah selesai dilakukan pada pukul 21.25, dengan memperbaiki bantalan yang patah dan esoknya KA bisa kembali melintas dengan normal.^[3]
