Operasi Bodenplatte

Operasi Bodenplatte merupakan usaha Luftwaffe untuk melumpuhkan kekuatan udara Sekutu dan mendapatkan superioritas udara dalam Pertempuran Bulge supaya pasukan Jerman dapat bergerak. Sebenarnya operasi ini dilaksanakan 16 Desember 1944, tetapi diundur karena cuaca yang buruk. Sayangnya operasi ini sangat rahasia bahkan tidak semua pasukan Jerman mengerti operasi ini sehingga banyak korban yang terkena tembakan bersahabat. Intelijen Inggris berhasil mengetahui operasi ini tetapi tidak menyangka pasukan Jerman akan menyerang dengan cepat. Hasilnya, operasi ini berhasil menciptakan kejutan dan kesuksesan tetapi akhirnya operasi ini bisa dibilang gagal total. Korban sekutu hanya sedikit karena Luftwaffe menghancurkan banyak pesawat yang berada di daratan. Berbeda dengan Luftwaffe yang kehilangan banyak pilot, Sekutu tentu saja bisa memproduksi pesawat yang hancur dalam hitungan hari tetapi pilot Lutfwaffe tidak dapat diproduksi dalam hitungan hari. Luftwaffe sendiri gagal mendapatkan superioritas udara walaupun untuk sementara.
