Terorisme komunis merujuk kepada terorisme yang dilakukan dalam memajukan, atau dilakukan oleh kelompok-kelompok yang mengikuti komunisme atau ideologi-ideologi terkait, seperti Trotskyisme, Leninisme, Maoisme, atau Marxisme–Leninisme. Dalam sejarah, terorisme komunis terkadang mengambil bentuk terorisme yang didukung oleh negara, seperti Uni Soviet,[1][2] Tiongkok,[2] Korea Utara[2] dan Kamboja.[3] Selain itu, aktor non-negara seperti Brigade Merah, Barisan Depan dan Faksi Tentara Merah juga melakukan terorisme komunis.[4][5] Kelompok-kelompok tersebut berharap untuk menginspirasi masyarakat untuk bangkit dan memulai revolusi untuk menggulingkan sistem politik dan ekonomi yang ada.[6] Bentuk terorisme tersebut terkadang disebut terorisme merah atau terorisme kiri.[7]

Akhir Perang Dingin dan kejatuhan Uni Soviet berujung pada penurunan bentuk terorisme tersebut.[8] Brian Crozier, pendiri dan direktur Institute for the Study of Conflict,[9] berkata bahwa komunisme menjadi sumber utama terorisme yang didukung negara dan non-negara.[10]
