William Muir

Sir William Muir KCSI (27 April 1819 – 11 Juli 1905) adalah seorang Skotlandia Orientalis, dan administrator kolonial, Kepala Sekolah Universitas Edinburgh dan Letnan Gubernur Provinsi Barat Laut British India.
Kehidupan
Ia lahir di Glasgow putra William Muir (1783–1820), seorang pedagang, dan Helen Macfie (1784–1866). Kakak laki-lakinya adalah John Muir, Indologist dan Sansekerta sarjana.[1] Dia dididik di Kilmarnock Academy, universitas Glasgow dan Edinburgh, dan Haileybury College.
