Warith Deen Muhammad
Warith Deen Mohammed (terlahir Wallace D. Muhammad; 30 Oktober 1933 – 9 September 2008), juga dikenal dengan nama "W. Deen Mohammed" atau "Imam W. Deen Muhammad", adalah seorang pemimpin agama, teolog, filsuf, revivalis Islam dan pemikir Islam progresif Amerika Serikat yang membubarkan Nation of Islam pada tahun 1976[1] dan mengubahnya menjadi gerakan Islam arus utama yang ortodoks, World Community of Al-Islam in the West, yang kelak menjadi American Society of Muslims.[2] Ia adalah putra dari Elijah Muhammad, ketua Nation of Islam sejak 1933 sampai 1975.[3][4]

Ia menjadi ketua nasional (Supreme Minister) Nation of Islam pada tahun 1975 setelah kematian ayahnya.[5] Sebagai hasil pembelajaran dan pemikirannya, ia berhasil memimpin mayoritas anggota N.O.I. asli beralih ke Islam Sunni yang lebih umum pada tahun 1978.[6] Melalui penggabungan ini, ia memimpin perpindahan massal ke agama Islam terbesar sepanjang sejarah Amerika Serikat.[7] Ia menolak penuhanan Wallace Fard Muhammad sebagaimana yang terjadi sebelumnya, menerima orang kulit putih sebagai sesama pemeluk, mempererat hubungan dengan komunitas Muslim secara umum, dan memperkenalkan Rukun Islam ke teologi organisasinya.[2][8]
Kelompok-kelompok pecahan yang menolak perubahan tersebut dibentuk setelah kematian Elijah Muhammad, khususnya di bawah pimpinan Louis Farrakhan, yang memakai kembali nama Nation of Islam untuk organisasinya.[2][9]

- Imam W. Deen Mohammed: "Systems of Knowledge", Muslim News Magazine, recorded as a television special by MNM during the 1994 Islamic Convention in Washington, DC. This classroom lecture was delivered in front of more than 200 Imams and scholars at the Renaissance Hotel. "Systems of Knowledge" is a classroom presentation on the essence of Quranic Arabic and its meaning to all mankind.
