Bukan.. agnostik itu bisa digambarkan sebagai "khatulistiwa", dengan theist dan atheist sebagai kutub utara dan selatannya. Antonim dari ateis sendiri itu teis CMIIW  Mimihitam  12:56, 5 Mei 2010 (UTC)

Mungkin penjelasan gampangnya seperti ini, jika ada tiga orang (orang pertama adalah penganut agama tertentu, orang kedua Atheis, dan dan orang ketiga Agnostik) diberi pertanyaan "Apakah Tuhan itu ada?" maka jawabannya adalah,
- Penganut Agama: "Ya, Tuhan itu ada"
- Atheis: "Tidak, Tuhan itu tidak ada"
- Agnostik: "Tidak tahu, tidak ada seorangpun yang bisa menjawab pertanyaan itu"
