Balitar Islamic University is a private university in Indonesia located in Blitar City, East Java, Indonesia. Balitar Islamic University is located at Jalan Majapahit Number 2-4, Sananwetan Village, Sananwetan District, Blitar City, East Java, Indonesia. Balitar Islamic University was founded in 2003 under the auspices of the Bina Citra Anak Bangsa Foundation with Official Establishment Decree Number 147/D/02003 dated September 5 2003. [1]

The basic principles of Balitar Islamic University in managing higher education are scientific, natural and divine based. As an effort to improve and equalize the quality of education in tertiary institutions, since its inception in 2017, Balitar Islamic University has made various collaborations with several educational institutions and corporations both at home and abroad. The collaboration created is in research, human resource development, education, community service and empowerment, as well as the development of an entrepreneurial university.[2]

The initiators of the establishment of the Balitar Islamic University, among others, were Prof. Dr. Ir. Zaenal Fanani, M.S., IPU, Dr. Drs. H. Hadi Siswanto, M.M., and Dr. Drs. H. Soebiantoro, M.Sc., is a Muslim scholar who was born and raised in Blitar City and wants to participate in making the lives of the people of Blitar City and its surroundings more intelligent. They argue that it is necessary to have a first university in Blitar City that is based on Islamic values ​​and in harmony with local wisdom values ​​amidst the emergence of many nationalist universities in order to produce religious scholars; honest, responsible, adhere to Islamic law and be cultured; continuing to preserve local wisdom values. The word "Balitar" was agreed to be part of the name of the university that would be founded because Balitar (Bali Tartar) is a pangenget or sign given by Nilasurwana or Gusti Sudomo in the 15th century for successfully defeating the Tartar army while hiding in the southern forest (Blitar and its surroundings). ) who rebelled against the Majapahit Kingdom.[3]

Graduates who are innovative and independent are the goals that will be produced from the establishment of Balitar Islamic University. The initiators want graduates not only to look for industry, but also to produce their own industry and/or be sought after by industry because of their skills in producing a project independently. The university that will be established must be able to participate in alleviating poverty and improving people's lives. Thus, the main focus of the desire to establish a university is to create and develop entrepreneurship.
