Ren Pengnian
Ren Pengnian (1894-1968) adalah seorang sutradara yang membuat film naratif berdurasi standar pertama di Tiongkok. Ia memulai sebuah perusahaan film pada tahun 1926 bernama Dongfang Film Studio.[1]
Ren membuat lebih dari empat puluh film selama kariernya sebagai sutradara. Ia juga membintangi beberapa film yang disutradarainya. Film Ren Pengnian, Yan Ruisheng merupakan film naratif pertama di Tiongkok yang berdurasi penuh.[1]
Film ini didasarkan pada pembunuhan nyata yang terjadi di Shanghai.[1]
