Kereta Api Argo Dwipangga (Hanacaraka: ꧋ꦱꦼꦥꦸꦂꦲꦂꦒꦢ꧀ꦮꦶꦥꦁꦒ꧉, Sepur Harga Dwipangga), adalah kereta api kelas eksekutif argo yang dioperasikan PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 6 Yogyakarta Tujuan Jakarta Gambir - Solo Balapan atau sebaliknya.

Asal Usul Nama

Nama "Argo Dwipangga" Berasal dari Kata "Argo" yang berarti Kelas Eksekutif layanan tertinggi PT Kereta Api Indonesia. Sedangkan Kata "Dwipangga" sendiri terdiri dari kata "Dwi" yang berarti Dua dan"Pangga" yang berarti Gunung. Dua Gunung yang dimaksud adalah gunung Merapi dan Gunung Merbabu yang menjadi Ikon Kota Boyolali yang gagah dan kokoh. Diharapkan KA ini bisa tetap langgeng dan jaya seperti dua gunung tersebut. Dalam Perjalanan KA ini penumpang bisa menikmati pemandangan gunung Merapi dan Merbabu di beberapa titik yang sangat indah dan menawan.

Layanan Argo Dwipangga

Kereta api ini menempuh perjalanan sejauh 576 km dengan koridor Gambir - Solo Balapan, dalam waktu sekitar 8 jam dan hanya berhenti di Klaten, Yogyakarta, Purwokerto, dan Jatinegara (arah Gambir). Argo Dwipangga dengan kapasitas 350-400 penumpang dan membawa 7-8 rangkaian kereta kelas eksekutif argo menawarkan alternatif perjalanan pada siang hari dari stasiun Gambir ke Solo Balapan dan perjalanan pada malam hari dari arah sebaliknya (berkebalikan dengan alternatif perjalanan yang ditawarkan oleh kereta api Argo Lawu).

Pertama kali diresmikan oleh Menteri Perhubungan RI pada tanggal 21 April 1998 menggunakan nama KA Dwipangga. Akan tetapi seiring dengan tuntuan pelanggan yang menginginkan penambahan KA Argo jurusan Jakarta - Solo, maka KA Dwipangga sengaja dimodifikasi untuk layanan kelas eksekutif argo, sehingga brand-nya pun diganti menjadi KA Argo Dwipangga pada tanggal 5 Oktober 1998.

Kata Argo digunakan sebagai brand image layanan kereta api eksekutif dan penamaan Dwipangga memang sengaja dibedakan dengan argo lainnya yang lazim menggunakan nama gunung mengingat nama Dwipangga dirasakan sudah sangat melekat di benak pelanggan. Kata Dwipangga diambil dari sebutan kendaraan Dewa Indra berupa gajah yang setia dan mampu melindungi pengendaranya dalam segala keadaan, sehingga menumbuhkan kebanggaan dan prestisi bagi penumpangnya. Rangkaian KA Argo Dwipangga terdiri dari 7-8 kereta kelas eksekutif argo (K1), 1 Kereta Makan bermotif batik (KM), dan 1 Kereta Pembangkit Listrik (MP).

Kereta yang digunakan awalnya adalah KA eksekutif argo buatan 1998 dan 2002 dari INKA, tetapi sejak Balai Yasa Manggarai meretrofit K1 batch 1984 dan 1986, rangkaian buatan 1998 dihibahkan ke Taksaka. Saat ini kereta ini sering bertukar rangkaian dengan Argo Lawu.
