"Death 'n' roll" adalah istilah untuk grup musik [[death metal]] yang menggabungkan elemen [[rock and roll]] ke keseluruhan suara mereka. Melodic death metal, juga disebut sebagai melodeath atau MDM, adalah gaya [[Heavy metal|musik heavy metal]] yang menggabungkan unsur-unsur dari [[gelombang baru heavy metal Inggris]] (NWOBHM) dengan unsur-unsur [[death metal]]. Death metal teknikal, sering disingkat tech death, dicirikan oleh pekerjaan gitar dan drum yang cepat dan rumit secara teknis, sering kali termasuk solo gitar yang menyapu. Vokal sering mengadopsi suara parau dari death metal.
