== Latar belakang ==
* Kepemilikan anggota jaringan umumnya dimiliki mutlak (90%) oleh induk jaringan atau perusahaan lainnya yang terafiliasi. * Identitas jaringan umumnya seragam dengan identitas induk jaringan, seperti dalam logo yang hanya dimodifikasi sedikit (ditambah tulisan nama daerah). Logo jaringan juga umumnya tidak ditampilkan dalam siaran televisi, kecuali saat siaran lokal.

Kemudian, pada jaringan televisi nasional baru (seperti NET. dan iNews), umumnya mereka membentuk jaringannya hasil akuisisi dari stasiun televisi lokal yang ada di berbagai daerah, atau membentuk anak usaha/jaringan baru. iNews misalnya merupakan "penyatuan" dari berbagai stasiun televisi lokal seperti [[iNews Pontianak|KCTV]] [[Pontianak]], [[Deli TV]] [[Medan]], [[iNews Makassar|SUN TV]] [[Makassar]], dan lainnya. Biasanya, anggota jaringan dari televisi nasional baru awalnya bersiaran dengan nama lokal, namun kemudian identitasnya disatukan. Siaran dari jaringan-jaringannya di daerah pun tidak bisa melingkupi satu provinsi, terbatas pada satu kota saja. Misalnya kembali ke iNews, di [[Sumatera Barat]], ada tiga jaringannya yang terpisah: iNews Tanah Datar (PT Semesta Bumi Televisi) dengan cakupan siar [[Batusangkar]]; [[iNews Payakumbuh]] (d/h Pass TV, PT Pass Televisi) dengan cakupan siar [[Payakumbuh]]; dan [[iNews Padang]] (d/h Minang TV, PT Minang Media Televisi Sumbar) dengan cakupan siar [[Kota Padang]].<ref name="ipp"/>
Meskipun demikian, ada juga tipe televisi berjaringan lain yang berada di luar pola diatas. Jaringan [[Jawa Pos Multimedia]]/JPM dan [[Indonesia Network]] misalnya, bisa kita katakan walaupun nampaknya kurang sesuai dengan pembatasan kepemilikan televisi (dipegang satu induk), namun masih mempertahankan identitas lokal yang cukup kuat di samping identitas nasional (hal ini dapat dilihat dengan jelas seperti pada kasus JPM.
