AmPm adalah unit kreatif yang beranggotakan duo dari Jepang.[1] Duo ini pertama kali mengenakan topeng beruang kutub ketika mereka debut tetapi sekarang memakai topeng kelinci.[2] Nama duo ini merupakan dekomposisi dari kata “TODAY” (satu hari) yang terdiri dari AM dan PM - TODAY sendiri berasal dari nama agensi mereka PLAY TODAY.[3] Nama masing-masing anggota belum diumumkan secara resmi jadi mereka dikenal sebagai "Kanan" dan "Kiri".[4] Duo ini memulai debutnya pada tahun 2017 dengan PLAY RECORDS, sebuah label rekaman indie,[5] kemudian pindah ke label rekaman Avex Entertainment “rhythm zone” di tahun 2019.[6] Dan semenjak tahun 2020 hingga saat ini Label rekaman mereka adalah “A.S.A.B”.[7] AmPm didasarkan pada musik house dan telah berkolaborasi dan merilis lagu dengan artis dari seluruh dunia. Di luar Asia, mereka telah merilis musik pada label musik dansa Belanda seperti Armada Music,[8] TurnItUp Muzik,[9] and Sushi Muzik.[10]

Perusahaan PLAY TODAY didirikan pada tahun 2015, yang berfokus pada karya kreatif, pemasaran digital, produksi lagu iklan, dan produksi acara yang berpusat pada musik, dll. Sebelum mendirikan perusahaan, keduanya telah berkeliling dunia dan Jepang, dan melalui perjalanan mereka, mereka bertemu banyak pencipta dan musisi. Melalui pengalaman ini, mereka mendapatkan ide “sebuah proyek untuk memperkenalkan artis yang mereka temui” dan memulai produksi musik mereka.[11] Setelah mengunjungi New York dan melihat drama “Sleep No More” pada tahun 2016, mereka memutuskan karir mereka sebagai artis bertopeng untuk menjaga anonimitas mereka.[12]

Debut sunting

AmPm memulai debutnya dengan “Best Part of Us” dengan Michael Kaneko sebagai vokalis.[13] Lagu debut ini menjadi sensasi di seluruh dunia dan lagu tersebut mencapai lebih dari 10 juta pemutaran dalam beberapa bulan setelah dirilis[14] dan menempati posisi #6 di “Viral Chart” Spotify.[15] Pada tahun yang sama, mereka tampil di acara yang diselenggarakan Spotify, “Spotify On Stage,” mewakili Jepang.[16] Mereka melanjutkannya dengan merilis 11 lagu original.

Pada tahun 2018, mereka tampil di ULTRA MIAMI, ULTRA KOREA, ULTRA JAPAN, tur Jepang GALANTIS,[17] lalu “MOVE NIGHT＿×DJ MAG Presents JONAS BLUE”,[18] serta mengadakan konser tunggal di New York.[19] Dalam peringkat Spotify Jepang, "Best Part of Us" menduduki peringkat ke-4 sebagai "lagu artis Jepang yang paling banyak diputar di luar negeri". Selain merilis delapan lagu mereka sendiri, termasuk "Little Bit More" yang ditulis bersama dengan Tommy Brown,[20] mereka me-remix lagu untuk Afrojack, R3HAB, Nicky Romero, dan Gesu no Kiwami Otome. Mereka juga bekerja sebagai produser untuk lagu Ken Hirai "HOLIC," yang dirilis sebagai "lagu ulang tahun ke-30 J-WAVE".[21]

Pada tahun 2019, AmPm memproduksi lagu “All For You” untuk grup V6 dan remix “Tokyo lights” untuk MONKEY MAJIK. Mereka mengadakan acara solo pertama mereka di Jepang dengan tiga penampilan, termasuk “AmPm Thinking April,” “AmPm Thinking Summer,” “AmPm Thinking Autumn.” Mereka menerima Penghargaan Khusus untuk “Digital Contents of The Year'18 / No. 24AMD Award” yang disponsori oleh Association of Media in Digital untuk menghormati pencapaian individu atau kelompok pencipta konten digital dengan melakukan proses seleksi untuk karya atau layanan yang luar biasa.[22]

Pada tahun 2020 “Prism feat. Miyuna” terpilih sebagai lagu tema musim ke-2 dari anime TV “Fruits Basket”.[23] Mereka juga me-remix lagu “Chime” oleh Ai Otsuka yang menjadi lagu tema untuk “Fruit Basket” serta “THEME FROM LUPIN III ” dari “Remix series of Reiwa” dari anime “LUPIN the Third” berjudul "LUPIN THE THIRD JAM".[24]

Pada tahun 2021, mereka merilis seri lagu dance pertama mereka yang mencakup empat lagu (Tokyo, New York City, Jakarta, Amsterdam) berdasarkan inspirasi yang mereka peroleh saat bepergian ke seluruh dunia. Single pertama mereka, “Tokyo” terpilih sebagai lagu kampanye untuk sneaker baru CONVERSE×BILLY, “ALL STAR J HI“SPARK””.[25] Lagu “On The Black and White feat. Doul (Dipha Barus Remix)” yang dirilis pada bulan April sempat diputar oleh 56 radio di Indonesia secara bersamaan.[26]

Selain musik orisinal mereka, AmPm juga memproduksi lagu untuk Uru yang berjudul “I don’t suit you”[27] dan mengaransemen ulang versi lagu yang dinyanyikan ulang “Can do! Can go! -V626 ver.” dari album hits terbesar V6 “Very6 BEST”.[28] Di bulan maret tahun tersebut, mereka mengeluarkan versi eksklusif dari lagu mereka yang belum pernah dirilis "Intro" sebagai NFT sehingga menjadikan mereka artis Jepang pertama yang merilis NFT.[25]
