English: SALVAGING HMS CALEDONIA, FORMERLY SS MAJESTIC FROM FIRTH OF FORTH. 3 MAY 1942, BO'NESS. THE 56,000 TON LINER SS MAJESTIC WAS RAISED FROM DEEP WATER IN THE FIRTH OF FORTH AT THE FIRST ATTEMPT. EIGHTEEN HUNDRED PORTS AS WELL AS HULL OPENINGS HAD TO BE SEALED BY DIVERS BEFORE SHE COULD BE PUMPED DRY. THE MAJESTIC HAD ENDED HER SERVICE AFLOAT AS THE TRAINING SHIP HMS CALEDONIA. SHE SANK AFTER A DESTRUCTIVE FIRE IN SEPTEMBER 1939. SHE PROVIDED NEARLY 40,000 TONS OF FIRST CLASS STEEL FOR THE WAR EFFORT. General view of the hull.
