English: Royal Air Force Operations in the Far East, 1941-1945
An aerial view of the RAF camp on the coral reef at Addu Atoll, Maldive Islands, which was established in 1944 as a base for flying boats operating in the Indian Ocean. Note the one mile-long pipeline jetty, built to take oil to the marine tender which refuels the Short Sunderlands of No. 230 Squadron RAF, moored out in the lagoon at far right.
