Florence and the Machine
Florence and the Machine (ditulis Florence + the Machine)[5] adalah grup musik rock indie asal Inggris. Grup ini beranggotakan Florence Welch dan Isabella "Machine" Summers sebagai vokalis utama, dan kolaborasi dari musisi-musisi lainnya. Florence and the Machine telah menerima beragam pujian dari media atas musik mereka, khususnya dari BBC, sebelum meraih kesuksesan secara internasional. Secara khusus, BBC berperan besar dalam memopulerkan grup ini, antara lain dengan mempromosikan Florence and the Machine dalam acara BBC Introducing.

Album debut grup ini, Lungs, dirilis pada tanggal 6 Juli 2009. Album ini menempati posisi dua selama lima minggu berturut-turut di UK Albums Chart.[6] Pada 17 Januari 2010, album ini berhasil bertengger di posisi puncak setelah berada di tangga lagu selama 28 minggu berturut-turut.[7] Hingga bulan Oktober 2010, album tersebut selalu menempati posisi empat puluh teratas di tangga lagu Inggris selama 65 minggu berturut-turut, menjadikannya sebagai salah satu album terlaris pada tahun 2009 dan 2010. Album studio kedua mereka, Ceremonials, dirilis pada bulan Oktober 2011, dan memulai debutnya di posisi puncak tangga lagu Inggris dan posisi enam di Billboard Amerika Serikat.
Musik Florence and the Machine digambarkan sebagai kombinasi dari berbagai genre musik, termasuk rock dan soul.[8][9] Lungs memenangkan penghargaan MasterCard British Album. Pada Penghargaan Grammy ke-53, Florence and the Machine dinominasikan untuk kategori Best New Artist. Selain itu, grup ini juga tampil dalam MTV Video Music Awards 2010, dan dalam Konser Nobel Perdamaian 2010.
