Judit Polgár

Judit Polgár (lahir 23 Juli 1976) adalah seorang grandmaster catur Hungaria. Ia dianggap sebagai pemain catur perempuan terbaik sepanjang masa.[1] Pada tahun 1991, Polgár memperoleh gelar grandmaster saat masih berusia 15 tahun dan 4 bulan, dan pada masa itu merupakan orang termuda yang memperoleh gelar tersebut dan telah memecahkan rekor mantan juara dunia Bobby Fischer. Ia adalah orang termuda yang pernah masuk ke dalam daftar 100 besar pemain FIDE dan masuk ke dalam peringkat 55 pada Januari 1989 saat masih berumur 12.[2] Ia juga merupakan satu-satunya perempuan yang berhasil menembus rating Elo 2700 dan pada puncaknya memperoleh rating 2735 pada tahun 2005. Ia bertengger pada puncak daftar pemain catur perempuan terbaik dunia dari Januari 1989 hingga Maret 2015, tetapi kemudian posisinya direbut oleh pemain Tionghoa Hou Yifan. Ia kembali meraih peringkat satu pada Agustus 2015, tetapi momen ini merupakan penampilan terakhirnya dalam Ranking Dunia FIDE.

Pada 13 Agustus 2014, ia mengumumkan bahwa ia akan mundur dari dunia kompetisi catur.[3][4][5] Pada Juni 2015, ia terpilih sebagai kapten dan pelatih tim catur laki-laki nasional Hungaria.[6] Pada 20 Agustus 2015, ia memperoleh anugerah tertinggi di Hungaria, yaitu Salib Agung Ordo Santo István.[7]
