Kimberly Hutchings


Kimberly Hutchings adalah dosen politik dan hubungan internasional di Queen Mary University of London.

Hutchings adalah salah satu pakar teori hubungan internasional. Penelitiannya meliputi teori hubungan internasional yang berkaitan dengan filsafat Kant dan Hegel, etika internasional dan global, teori feminis dan filsafatnya, dan politik dan kekerasan. Karya-karyanya dipengaruhi oleh tradisi akademik yang merintis Mazhab Frankfurt dan teori kritis.

Ia adalah penulis Kant, Critique and Politics, International Political Theory: rethinking ethics in a global era, Hegel and Feminist Philosophy dan Time and World Politics: thinking the present. Fokus penelitiannya adalah etika global, asumsi waktu dan sejarah dalam teori hubungan internasional, dan hubungan konseptual antara politik dan kekerasan dalam aliran politik Barat.

Sebelum pindah ke Queen Mary pada musim panas 2014, Hutchings menjabat sebagai dosen hubungan internasional di London School of Economics sekaligus kepala departemennya pada tahun 2010 sampai 2013. Ia sebelumnya menjabat sebagai dosen madya di LSE sejak 2003 sampai 2007. Hutchings merupakan wanita ketiga yang memegang jabatan dosen di Departemen Hubungan Internasional LSE setelah Susan Strange dan Margot Light. Tahun 1995 sampai 2002, ia merupakan dosen senior teori politik di University of Edinburgh's Graduate School of Social and Political Studies. Sebelumnya, ia menjadi dosen filsafat di School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Universitas Wolverhampton.

Ia mendapat gelar PhD dari Universitas Sussex di bawah bimbingan Gillian Rose.
