Lymantriidae adalah familia ngengat. Fase ulat, atau larva, dari spesies ini memiliki ciri fisik yang khas, yaitu rambut-rambut yang dapat menimbulkan reaksi yang membuat gatal apabila bersentuhan dengan kulit manusia.
