Pers ini didirikan oleh Whitney Darrow dengan bantuan dana dari Charles Scribner pada tahun 1905 sebagai pers cetak yang melayani Princeton.[1] Buku pertamanya adalah Lectures on Moral Philosophy karya John Witherspoon edisi tahun 1912.[2]
