Geoffrey Chaucer

Geoffrey Chaucer (kemungkinan besar London, 1343 – 25 Oktober 1400) adalah seorang sastrawan, penyair, filsuf, diplomat, dan birokrat Inggris. Ia sering kali disebut sebagai bapak Sastra Inggris. Meskipun Chaucer menulis banyak karya, karyanya yang paling terkenal adalah cerita bingkainya, The Canterbury Tales, yang belum selesai. Ia kadang kala dianggap sebagai penulis pertama yang menunjukkan kekuatan bahasa Inggris Pertengahan untuk menulis karya sastra, menghindari penggunaan bahasa Prancis atau bahasa Latin.
