Klub yang dikenal dengan julukan ''Laskar Joko Samudro'' ini memiliki kelompok pendukung fanatik bernama [[Ultras Gresik]]. [[Rusa Bawean]] adalah hewan atau fauna identitas [[Kabupaten Gresik]]. Seluruh partai kandang [[Gresik United]] dimainkan di [[Stadion Tri Dharma]].
Klub ini didirikan pada tanggal [[2 Desember]] [[2005]] sebagai hasil penggabungan dari bekas tim [[Divisi Utama Liga Indonesia|Divisi Utama]], [[Petrokimia Gresik]], dengan tim [[Divisi Dua Liga Indonesia|Divisi II]], [[Persegres Gresik]] dan saat ini juga mereka berusaha mati-matian agar tetap bertahan di divisi utama.

Fauna Identitas Kabupaten Gresik adalah [[Rusa Bawean]] yaitu Rusa yang berasal dari Pulau Bawean Kabupaten Gresik. Rusa Bawean selain menjadi fauna identitas/ maskot Kabupaten Gresik, tetapi juga hewan kebanggaan warga Gresik.
