Kereta Api Argo Sindoro adalah kereta api kelas eksekutif argo yang dioperasikan PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) di Pulau Jawa dengan jurusan Semarang Tawang - Gambir dan sebaliknya. Sebelumnya, kereta ini adalah kereta Argo Muria I.

Kereta api Argo Sindoro sebelum menggunakan gerbong baru dengan livery abu-abu dan sekarang menggunakan gerbong livery kesepakatan Seperti KA Jayabaya dan KA Bima setelah pemeliharaan akhir (PA) di tahun 2015

Rangkaian kereta api Argo Sindoro pada awalnya menggunakan rangkaian kereta Argo Anggrek. Semua kereta ini adalah kelas eksekutif. Selama perjalanan, kereta api ini hanya berhenti di Stasiun Pekalongan, Tegal, Cirebon, dan Jatinegara.

Sejak Desember 2011 lalu, kereta api Argo Sindoro sempat tidak lagi menggunakan kereta K9 ala Argo Anggrek dikarenakan semua kereta Anggrek yang sering mengalami masalah ditarik untuk diperbaiki di PT Inka Madiun. Sebagai gantinya KA Argo Sindoro menggunakan kereta eksekutif argo yang dialokasikan di depo kereta api Semarang Poncol yang merupakan cadangan Argo Muria dan Harina. Rangkaian KA Argo Sindoro terdiri dari 7-9 kereta kelas eksekutif argo (K1), 1 Kereta Makan (M1), dan 1 kereta pembangkit yang khas karena mirip dengan gerbong pembangkit milik kereta api Argo Bromo Anggrek. Pada saat menggunakan gerbong eksekutif standar, gerbong ini bertukar rangkaian dengan KA Argo Muria. Rangkaian yang digunakan adalah kereta eksekutif produksi 2002 milik Argo Muria (K1-028xx) dan eks-Harina (K1-025xx). Sekarang semua rangkaian tersebut berkode K1 0 02 xx sejak era penomoran baru.

Mulai Juni 2015, kereta api Argo Sindoro kembali menggunakan rangkaian kereta eksekutif dengan bogie K9 bekas Argo Bromo Anggrek Go Green (maupun kereta yang sudah menggunakan livery "Kesepakatan" setelah menjalani pemeliharaan akhir di Balai Yasa Gubeng), karena kereta api tersebut telah mendapatkan rangkaian yang direhabilitasi total di PT Inka, Madiun.

Namun pada akhirnya kereta ini tetap menggunakan kereta biasa dan kereta kelas Anggrek dijadikan cadangan atau untuk kereta tambahan, serta dikembalikan ke Argo Bromo Anggrek yang membutuhkan kereta cadangan lebih mengingat saat ini seringkali Argo Bromo Anggrek membawa sembilan kereta pada setiap rangkaiannya.

Asal usul nama

Nama Argo Sindoro menggunakan nama Gunung Sindoro yang berada di Kabupaten Temanggung, Jawa Tengah. Pemakaian nama ini karena argo [baca: harga (Jawa)] itu sendiri berarti gunung. Walaupun brand name atau penamaan argo menandakan fasilitas dan ketepatan waktu yang lebih dari kelas kereta api yang lain yakni eksekutif, bisnis, maupun ekonomi, namun pada kenyataannya semua hal tersebut tidaklah beda dengan kereta api kelas eksekutif pada umumnya.

Tarif

Tarif kereta api ini adalah Rp 175.000,00 - Rp 395.000,00, bergantung pada jarak yang ditempuh penumpang, subkelas/posisi tempat duduk dalam rangkaian kereta, serta hari-hari tertentu seperti akhir pekan dan libur nasional. Selain itu, berlaku pula tarif khusus yang hanya dapat dipesan di loket stasiun mulai dua jam sebelum keberangkatan pada stasiun-stasiun yang berada di dalam rute berikut.

Semarang - Tegal maupun sebaliknya: Rp 80.000,00
Cirebon - Jakarta maupun sebaliknya: Rp 150.000,00.
