Kereta api Taksaka (Hanacaraka: ꦱꦼꦥꦸꦂꦠꦏ꧀ꦱꦏ, Sepur Taksaka) adalah kereta api eksekutif satwa yang dioperasikan oleh PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) pada tanggal 19 September 1999 untuk melayani koridor Yogyakarta Tugu - Jakarta Gambir. Perjalanan sejauh 517 km ditempuh dalam waktu sekitar 7,5 jam.

Pada tanggal 17 Oktober 2001 diluncurkan KA Taksaka II 51/52 yang menawarkan perjalanan siang hari dari Yogyakarta ke Jakarta dan pada malam hari dari arah sebaliknya, sehingga sejak itu terdapat dua alternatif pilihan perjalanan KA Taksaka pada siang dan malam hari dari Yogyakarta - Jakarta Gambir atau sebaliknya.

Rangkaian KA Taksaka terdiri atas 8/9 kereta kelas eksekutif dan memiliki kapasitas sebanyak 416 tempat duduk. Kereta api ini beroperasi dengan formasi: lokomotif (CC206 sekarang); 8 buah kereta api eksekutif campuran pesawat, argo, dan satwa; sebuah kereta makan; satu buah kereta pembangkit; dan satu kereta bagasi. Berdasarkan waktunya, KA ini beroperasi dengan nama Taksaka Pagi dan Taksaka Malam.

Asal usul nama

Taksaka merupakan nama dari seekor ular besar/naga dalam cerita Mahabharata yang baik hati dan pengayom.

Tarif

Tarif kereta api ini adalah antara Rp 195.000,00 - Rp 405.000,00, bergantung pada jarak tempuh, subkelas/posisi tempat duduk dalam rangkaian kereta, serta hari-hari tertentu seperti akhir pekan dan libur nasional. Selain itu, berlaku pula tarif khusus yang hanya dapat dipesan di loket stasiun mulai dua jam sebelum keberangkatan kereta api ini pada stasiun yang berada dalam rute berikut.

Menuju ke Surabaya dan Malang

KA Taksaka juga dipakai sebagai moda transportasi penghubung dari Jakarta ke objek wisata yang ada di Jawa Timur dan sebaliknya. Untuk kemudian meneruskan perjalanan ke Surabaya Gubeng dengan Sancaka Yogya Pagi (84) dan sampai di surabaya gubeng pada siang hari.

Atau kemudian meneruskan perjalanan ke Malang dengan Kereta api Malioboro Yogya (94/96) dan sampai di malang pada sore hari dan shubuh hari.
