  • There was a problem with some Lua modules on July 22 and 23. Some pages using them did not list them in "what links here". You can fix those pages with a null edit: edit and save the page without making any change.
  • There was a problem with the abuse filter page on big wikis on July 23. It was due to a code error. [8]

  • The ContentTranslation extension has been updated:
    • You can now type in list paragraphs on wikis with right-to-left scripts. [10]

  • The error page you see when the sites are not working is now simpler and easier to read. It also shows the Wikimedia logo. [15]
  • MediaWiki now supports redirects for CSS pages. [16]
  • Bots can't guess captchas unlimited times anymore. [17]

Problems

  • There was a problem with thumbnails on wikis with local images on July 24 and 25. It was due to a code error. [18]
  • We can't search by file type on Wikimedia wikis now. [19]

Recent changes

  • MediaWiki can now hide the signature button when you edit a content page. [20]
  • The "Your preferences have been saved" message has changed. You can now see more easily what was saved when you change preferences several times. [21]
  • You can now play Ogg video files in some browsers that don't support this format. This solution uses JavaScript and works on desktop browsers only for now. It will work on mobile later. [22]
  • You can now use the same tools to edit style in VisualEditor on mobile as in desktop browsers. [23]
  • It is now easier to see if there is a JavaScript error in a user or site script. [24]
  • JavaScript authors:
    • You can no longer use the Sajax library. You can see a list of pages to fix. [25] [26]
    • You can no longer use document.write on Wikimedia wikis. You can see a list of pages to fix. [27] [28]
  • The content translation tool now works better. It is easier to use math, and useless tags are no longer added. [29]

Problems

  • More edits have been rejected due to loss of session data lately. This is now fixed. [30]
  • Importing a Lua module sometimes didn't work. This is now fixed. [31]
  • Text was sometimes lost in the content translation tool. One part of the problem is now fixed. [32]

Apakah artikel ini tidak bisa digabung ke Il Volo saja seperti Wikipedia Bahasa Inggris karena panjang artikel juga tidak terlalu panjang dan boleh dikatakan pendek dan referensinya sangat amat minim sekali.

Menurut anda apakah tidak masalah? Selain itu bisakah anda menghapus artikel-artikel dan berkas-berkas yang layak dihapus yang mulai menumpuk?

  • Many Wikipedias can now use information from any Wikidata item in any Wikipedia article. Before they could only use the Wikidata item that matched the subject of the article. [36] [37] [38]
  • Some auto-saving problems and other issues in the Content Translation tool are now fixed. Please report to the Content Translation feedback page if you still have problems. [39]

Problems

  • Older gadgets that are not using ResourceLoader are not loading anymore. They need to be updated. [40] [41]
  • On August 12 the machine translation servers and the Content Translation tool didn't work. This was fixed on the same day. [42]

Mas Ricky, banyak artikel buatan mas (terutama dari AWB) duplikat dengan artikel yang sudah ada di WPID. Informasinya pun mungkin ada yang kelupaan ditulis (contoh artikel Jardine Matheson masa' profitnya $1,6 dan asetnya $63,8?). @RaymondSutanto: halo mas, untuk duplikat saya tidak bisa berbuat banyak, karena nama di database dan nama di Wikipedia memang beda (dua-duanya benar, hanya penulisannya yang berbeda) jadi memang baiknya kita alihkan saja atau gabungkan kedua artikelnya. Untuk profit dan aset yang tidak ada belakangnya (seperti juta atau milyar) memang kealpaan saya dan sudah diperbaiki di artikel2 terbaru. Yang baru saya sadari adalah ternyata benar bahwa angka tersebut dinyatakan dalam milyar, bukan juta, nanti akan saya perbaiki.   • A new version of the Wikidata Toolkit has been released. It now has Wikibase API support. [53]

  • There was a problem with Tool Labs due to kernel issues. This has been fixed. [55]
  • The Content Translation tool published some pages with the same reference repeated several times. This has been fixed. [56][57]

Recent changes

  • You can now use the Wikidata query service. [64]
  • Belarusian-Taraškievica Wikipedia was moved from be-x-old.wiki-indonesia.club to be-tarask.wiki-indonesia.club. This caused some issues, but most of them were resolved. [65]
  • Language preferences might not be changed immediately when you adjust them. Language selection might work slower. Please report any problems. [66][67]

Problems

  • There was a problem when editing International Standard Book Numbers in Visual Editor. This has now been fixed. [68]
  • The Wikimedia mailing lists should have been upgraded on September 9. It didn't work as planned and will now happen later. [69]

  • The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from September 15. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from September 16. It will be on all Wikipedias from September 17 (calendar).

Recent changes

  • There is now an experimental Wikimedia maps service. You can give feedback here. [72][73]
  • Last week a few issues with UploadWizard were fixed. Before this was done, UploadWizard would stop you from uploading your files if something went wrong. [74][75][76][77]
  • More Wikipedias can now use information from any Wikidata item in any Wikipedia article. Previously they could only use the Wikidata item that matched the subject of the article. [78]
  • The VisualEditor welcome dialogue has been changed. The intention is to make it more helpful for new users. [79]

Problems

  • Wikimedia Labs' HTTPS certificate expired for most of Tuesday 15 September. To reach Wikimedia Labs and Tool Labs securely you had to ignore your browser's security error message. There was no risk to data security during this time. [80]
  • Last week the notification system was split into two parts. This was temporarily undone because of a bug and performance concerns. It will return to two parts this week. [81][82]
  • UploadWizard couldn't upload files larger than 5 MB when using chunked uploads. This has now been fixed. [83]

Changes this week

  • The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from September 22. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from September 23. It will be on all Wikipedias from September 24 (calendar).
  • The page move tool has been switched over to the new standard look for forms. [84]
  • You can now choose whether to extend a link or not when editing one in VisualEditor. This means it is easier to choose how much of what you type before and after the link is part of it. [85]
  • Wikibooks can now use data from Wikidata. [86]

  • A problem with MediaWiki made some pages show no content on October 14. This has now been fixed. [108]

  • The deployment of the new MediaWiki version was stopped on October 14. No new code was deployed for the rest of week. This meant planned changes did not happen. [110]

After nearly three months of preparation, Wikipedia Asian Month will start in a few days. Here are some changes and action items that need to be done in the next few days before the event starts:

  • As we discussed on meta, if the article is a list, it will not count. However, on the English Wikipedia, the rules have been changed so that a list that is promoted to a Featured List will be counted. Other Wikipedias that also have Featured Lists (BN, BA, FA, KO, HI, ID, JA, RU, UK, UR and ZH) are invited to consider and add this rule.
  • There will be two CentralNotice banners used during the event. Please translate these into your language. It should take a maximum of 3 minutes. One is for Ongoing, another is for ending. It will generate huge impact!
    If you have any question regarding the banner in your language Wikipedia, free feel to leave a message on meta.
  • Any Asian topic will be counted. Topics do not have to be about geopgraphy. You can make a clear statement so that participants understand this.
  • For smaller communities, it is okay to reduce the standard from 3500 bytes and 300 words. I will suggest no lower than 2500 Bytes and 200 words. Please report this change on meta.
  • I will make a short video demo about how to use the judging tool. This should be done no later than November 10. I would recommend organizers not start judging articles before that if you plan to use the judging tool.
  • Ask some Wikipedians in your community to assist you if you are the only organizer. Tell them most work has already been done. There is only a little work for being an organizer from this point forward.
  • For any questions or thought about Wikipedia Asian Month, you can leave a message here. I'm monitoring this page 12 hours everyday.

  • Artikel haruslah bertopik Asia (bisa berupa budaya, geografis, politik, tokoh, dsb.) selain Indonesia.
  • Artikel berisi setidaknya 3.500 bita dan 300 kata.
  • Artikel memenuhi kriteria kelayakan artikel.
  • Artikel memiliki referensi yang cukup; pernyataan yang meragukan atapun kontroversial haruslah dapat diperiksa dari rujukan yang didaftarkan dalam artikel.
  • Artikel tidak murni diterjemahkan oleh mesin penerjemah; dan memiliki gaya bahasa yang memadai.

I'm very excited that Wikipedia Asian Month has many great articles already in the first ten days. To better help us understand how we are we doing on Wikipedia Asian Month, here are some small tasks:

  1. Please update the data of your Wikipedia at m:Wikipedia Asian Month/Data, it does not need to be accurate.
  2. A few Wikipedia has join the WAM, you can update it on the local page. Azerbaijani Wikipedia, Bulgarian Wikipedia, Cantonese Wikipedia, French Wikipedia, Latvian Wikipedia, Sindhi Wikipedia, Spanish Wikipedia and Vietnamese Wikipedia.
  3. Try to get some media coverage on your local medias. Report the media coverage and find resources at here.
  4. There is a user box that you can encourage participants to put on their user page. m:Template:User Asian Month‎

Hi there!

Thank you for volunteering to organize Wikipedia Asian Month - we are doing something amazing! We are expecting to have 1,000 participants improving over 1,500 articles, possibly making Wikipedia Asian Month the largest long-term edit-a-thon ever. Here are a few tasks that need to be completed at the end of the event, as well as some tips you can take to achieve greater success.
Requirements:

  1. Check all submitted articles before 15th December, 2015, and send me a data set that includes: total number of submitted articles, number of qualified articles, total number of participants, and articles selected for DYK. For the few Wikipedias that allow article expansions, please also send me the number of new articles vs. improved articles. Use this page to submit results.
  2. List all qualified organizers, up to five on each Wikipedia. Qualified organizers are ones who work actively; those who only have their name on the page or just made a few constructive edits for the event (less than, say, 5-10 edits) will not be counted. Due 20th December, 2015. Use this page to submit organizers.
  3. List all qualified editors who can receive a postcard on here at meta. Also, please determine the Wikipedia Asian Ambassador of this year. For some Wikipedias, we are also honoring the second greatest contributor as an ambassador, as long as they have created at least 30 articles. Please talk with me about these potential additional Ambassadors. Due 25th December, 2015. Use this page to submit Ambassadors.
  4. Create a local results page. A sample page will be provided soon. Due 30th December, 2015.

Tips and Extras:

  1. Place {{WAM talk 2015}} on talk pages of qualified articles to record that it was created as a part of Wikipedia Asian Month. If your Wikipedia does not have an equivalent template, make one! See this talk page example to see the template in action.
  2. Translate the message at this page. This message will be sent to all participants on your local Wikipedia to encourage their participation. Let me know when you finish the translation. For some Wikipedias that have fewer editors, you can send it by yourself.
  3. If you haven't started to check articles, try to give at least one result to each participant to let them know their contribution are qualified, or why they do not qualify.
  4. If you find out that some editors on your local Wikipedia are editing Asian Content but haven't sign up yet, send them a short invitation to ask them join. All edits made in November will be counted regardless of when the editor signed up.

Rules Clarification:

  • Since it is hard for organizers to keep the checking process very quickly, and may cause some editors who submit five articles being told one of their article does not qualified after the end November. We will still send postcards to those who submit five articles but one of those does not qualified with a minor problem. Minor problems include:
    1. Needs a few words to reach 300 words.
    2. Has a less-important issue tag.
    3. Needs to count one or two edits in the end of October or beginning of December to be qualified.

Problems

  • On September 29 users' skin preferences were removed by mistake on small and medium-sized wikis. This changed preferences back to Vector. Restoring all data would cause even more problems. Affected users who want to have their preference changed back globally can ask for it as a comment on Phabricator task T119206 until December 21 2015. [141]
  • Some scheduled tasks were not working properly from September to recently. This meant some pages in the special pages namespace were not updated. It has now been fixed. [142]

Changes this week

  • Wikinews, Wikispecies, MediaWiki.org and Meta will be able to use information from Wikidata. [143][144]
  • There are no MediaWiki deployments this week (calendar).

Future changes

  • Category watchlists are now available on test wikis and MediaWiki.org. The plan is to enable it on most wikis in January. [145]
  • Cross-wiki notifications are being developed. When this is done you will not have to go to the wiki where something happened to be notified. [146]

Hi there!

We made it! The first edition of Wikipedia Asian Month has successfully ended! While your efforts are still needed since the wrap up stage is another big challenge for us. I understand everyone is busy in December, I will trying to cover everything we need in this message, hopefully can make this easier.
Guideline

  1. Check all submitted articles before 15th December, 2015.
    1. When you do so, please make a category that includes all articles of WAM. My approach is using the {{WAM talk 2015}} on the talk page of all articles, and generate a category for talk page.
    2. If you already submitted result on this page, please take a look that I add another column for articles selected for DYK. It could take a while for DYK process, you can fill that column later.
    3. You don't need to provide bytes column since I'm looking for a easy way to not brother us too much.
    4. When you checking articles, if you ever find an article submitted about Bashkortostan, Russia, please list them out. Bashkortostan community would like to send a postcard to whoever create that article.
  2. List all qualified organizers, up to five on each Wikipedia.   4. We will make a barnstar for whoever contribute to Wikipedia Asian Month, a user box for whoever accomplish the mission, and a ribbon bar for Ambassadors. It will be distribute after we have all qualified editors.

Further Actions

  1. You are welcome to submit an blog post draft for Wikimedia Blog at here about Wikipedia Asian Month in your local community, a specific story is more welcomed. I will help on that, and maybe integrate stories from different communities together to make a enough length articles. So don't hesitate to submit a short paragraph.
    1. A specific story about WAM. Like how some volunteers contribute in the event makes them special.
    2. A one sentence statement from you or participants about how you feel about Wikipedia Asian Month; why you like the event; what do you think we need to improve next year
    3. A short introduction about your community if it has not been introduced yet on Wikimedia Blog. Goals, current problems, why your community special etc.
  2. Sorry for the rough pages on meta. I will make a more beautiful page for all organizers and Ambassadors to honor their great contribution for Wikipedia.
  3. Next year: Many communities show their interest to hold this event again next year. We want to plan it in advance. If you represent a Wikimedia affiliate in Asia, please considering to include around 100 U.S. dollars in your annual grant application or similar. So Wikipedians around world can have a taste on your country or region next year! A mail list will be set up and inform you in next update. We will definitely make this event easier to participant next year, and improve our tool to give a better experience for both organizers and participants.

Recent changes

  • Revision scoring will help to automatically identify bad-faith and good-faith edits. The point is to make it easier to block vandals and welcome newcomers. It currently supports Wikidata and 14 Wikipedias. [147]

Problems

  • Meta was not given access to information from Wikidata last week. This will happen later. [148]

Changes this week

  • You will be able to use wikilinks in Flow topic titles. [149]
  • IP users will have a toolbar with links to the user talk page and user contributions. Some Wikipedias already have this feature. [150]
  • You will be able to edit the graph size in the visual editor. You can either specify the size in the graph dialog or drag it to be the size you want it to be. [151]
  • It will be easier to write math in the visual editor if you don't know LaTeX. You can use symbol buttons instead. [152]
  • You will be able to use syntax highlighting when you write math with LaTeX in the visual editor. [153]
  • UploadWizard will look a bit different. [154]
  •   The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 8 December. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 9 December. It will be on all Wikipedias from 10 December. (calendar).
