Adam Richard Sandler (lahir 9 September 1966) adalah seorang aktor, komedian, produser film dan penulis skenario asal Amerika Serikat. Dia adalah anggota pemeran pada Saturday Night Live dari 1990 hingga 1995, sebelum membintangi banyak film Hollywood, yang jika digabungkan telah menghasilkan lebih dari $4 miliar di box office.[2][3] Sandler diperkirakan memiliki kekayaan bersih $420 juta pada tahun 2021, dan menandatangani kontrak tiga film dengan Netflix senilai lebih dari $350 juta.[4]

Sandler lahir di Brooklyn, New York, pada 9 September 1966,[6] dari pasangan Judith "Judy" (née Levine), seorang guru, dan Stanley Sandler, seorang insinyur listrik.[6] Keluarganya adalah Yahudi dan keturunan dari imigran Rusia-Yahudi di kedua sisi.[7][8][9] Sandler dibesarkan di Manchester, New Hampshire, setelah pindah pada usia enam tahun.[10] Dia bersekolah di SMA Manchester Central. Ketika masih remaja, Sandler bergabung BBYO, sebuah kelompok pemuda Yahudi. Ia lulus dari Universitas New York, Tisch School of the Arts pada tahun 1988.[11]
Kehidupan pribadi sunting
Sandler telah menikah dengan Jacqueline "Jackie" Sandler (née Titone) sejak tahun 2003.[12] Istrinya masuk agama Sandler, Yudaisme.[13] Pasangan ini memiliki dua putri, Sadie (lahir Mei 2006)[14] dan Sunny (lahir November 2008).[15] Istri dan anak-anak Sandler sering muncul di film-filmnya.[16][17]
Pada tahun 2007, Sandler memberikan sumbangan $1 juta kepada Boys & Girls Clubs of America di Manchester, New Hampshire.[18]
Sandler belum secara terbuka berbicara tentang posisi politiknya. Telah dilaporkan secara publik bahwa dia telah terdaftar untuk memilih sebagai seorang Republikan. Dia tampil di Konvensi Nasional Partai Republik tahun 2004, dan dia telah menyumbangkan $2.100 untuk kampanye presiden Rudy Giuliani tahun 2008 (jumlah maksimum yang diperbolehkan pada saat itu).[19]
