Iris Murdoch
Dame Jean Iris Murdoch DBE (/ˈmɜːrdɒk/ MUR-dok; 15 Juli 1919 – 8 Februari 1999) adalah seorang novelis dan filsuf asal Irlandia-Inggris. Murdoch terkenal karena novelnya tentang baik dan jahat, hubungan seksual, moralitas, dan kekuatan alam bawah sadar. Novel pertamanya yang diterbitkan, Under the Net (1954), terpilih pada tahun 1998 sebagai salah satu dari 100 novel berbahasa Inggris terbaik Perpustakaan Modern abad ke-20. Novelnya yang lain, The Sea, the Sea berhasil memenangkan Booker Prize. Pada tahun 1987, dia mendapatkan gelar Dame oleh Ratu Elizabeth II atas kontribusinya di bidang kesusastraan. Pada tahun 2008, The Times menempatkan Murdoch di peringkat kedua belas dalam daftar "50 penulis Inggris terbesar sejak 1945".[1]
