John Mearsheimer
John J. Mearsheimer (/ˈmɜːrʃhaɪmər/;[3] lahir Desember 1947) adalah dosen ilmu politik Universitas Chicago, Amerika Serikat. Ia merupakan teoriwan hubungan internasional. Ia dikenal sebagai penulis buku tahun 2001 tentang neorealisme ofensif, The Tragedy of Great Power Politics. Mearsheimer juga dikenal sebagai penulis buku New York Times Best Seller The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy (2007) bersama Stephen Walt. Buku karyanya tahun 2011, Why Leaders Lie: The Truth About Lying in International Politics, disebut sebagai daftar "segala jenis kebohongan yang disampaikan antara satu negara dengan negara yang lain."[4] Menurut wawancara bersama Mearsheimer di The Boston Globe, pelajaran yang dapat diambil dari buku tersebut adalah, "Berbohonglah secara selektif, berbohonglah dengan cerdas, dan kuasai bidang yang kamu lakukan."[5]
