Judul "Buddhisme"

Berikut ini alasan-alasan utama kenapa judul Buddhisme digunakan:

1. Sudah ada di KBBI VI (untuk para ekstremis KBBI) [1]
2. Mewadahi seluruh model "ajaran Buddha", dari Buddhisme arus utama sebagai agama terorganisir dan terstruktur (definitif), seperti dalam Buddhisme Theravāda, Mahayana Taiwan; dan juga Buddhisme sebagai tradisi filosofis (tidak dianut secara religius).
3. Menghindari kebingungan bahasa dalam menerjemahkan: Buddhism, Buddhist, Buddha. Misalnya dalam Seni rupa Buddhisme yang jika ditulis "Seni rupa Buddha" (iya, tahu bisa "Seni rupa agama Buddha" tetapi kata "Buddhisme" jauh lebih sederhana seperti kata "Islam" dan "Kekristenan" yang hanya satu huruf; sedangkan jika hanya menyebut "Buddha" saja tidak jelas: Sang Buddha, Kebuddhaan, ajaran-Nya, atau pengikut-Nya?) malah merujuk pada seni rupa Sang Buddha; ada beberapa contoh lain yang bisa ditemukan di Wikipedia bahasa Indonesia.

"Nonteisme" yang masih diperdebatkan

Buddhisme sebagai ajaran yang "nonteisme" masih banyak diperdebatkan oleh para ahli. Hal ini juga terkait dengan ragamnya aliran Buddhisme. Paham demikian bahkan tidak secara luas diterima oleh kalangan pengikut arus utama. Catatan:

1. Buddhisme meyakini eksistensi alam surga yang berisi dewa/dewi (terminologi dewa/dewi dalam Buddhisme arus utama, seperti Theravāda dan Mahāyāna, adalah para makhluk yang tinggal di alam surga)
2. Buddhisme meyakini 31 alam utama, termasuk di dalamnya alam surga tersebut
3. Buddhisme meyakini hukum karma yang "cara kerjanya tidak dapat dibayangkan" (acinteyya)
4. Buddha diam saat ditanya tentang asal terciptanya semesta
5. Buddha memang menolak paham "Tuhan Tertinggi Maha Kuasa" pada beberapa Teks Buddhis Awal, tetapi tidak sepenuhnya menolak pemujaan kepada dewa/dewi tertentu

Oleh karena itu, meletakkannya sebagai definisi utama di sini tidak tepat.

Pada suntingan saya, saya merujuk kepada definisi Buddhisme sebagaimana tertera di Wikipedia bahasa Inggris. Definisi demikian mewadahi seluruh model Buddhisme, dari Buddhisme arus utama sebagai agama terorganisir dan terstruktur (definitif), seperti dalam Buddhisme Theravāda, dan juga Buddhisme sebagai tradisi filosofis. Ajaran murni

Dengan hormat, Secara original tentang ajaran murni langsung dari Buddha Sakyamuni, agama Buddha terbagi menjadi tiga aliran: 1. Theravada (Kereta Kecil); 2. Mahayana (Kereta Besar); 3. Tantrayana (Aliran Tibet). Dalam ritual dan tata cara kebaktian Mahayana yang lebih banyak menggunakan bahasa Mandarin dan Sanskerta, juga ada digunakan alat-alat bunyi-bunyian.
