Pada tanggal 29 September 2016, sebuah konfrontasi militer antara India dan Pakistan dimulai. India mengklaim bahwa Pakistan telah melakukan "serangan bedah" terhadap landasan peluncuran militan di sepanjang Garis Kontrol di Azad Kashmir yang dikuasai Pakistan, dan menimbulkan "korban yang signifikan".[29]
