Rumpun bahasa Koreanik
Rumpun bahasa Koreanik ialah rumpun bahasa yang terdiri dari bahasa Korea dan bahasa di Pulau Jeju. Bahasa di Pulau Jeju sering digambarkan sebagai dialek bahasa Korea, tetapi cukup berbeda untuk dianggap sebagai bahasa yang berbeda. Beberapa pakar berpendapat bahwa dialek Yukchin di sebelah timur laut jauh harus dibedakan dengan cara yang sama. Bahasa Korea banyak didokumentasikan sejak pengenalan aksara Hangeul pada abad ke-15. Penafsiran bahasa Korea sebelumnya yang menggunakan aksara Tionghoa jauh lebih sulit untuk ditafsirkan.

Semua varietas modern diturunkan dari bahasa Korea Kuno di negara Silla. Sedikit yang diketahui dari bahasa-bahasa lain yang dituturkan di semenanjung sebelum Penyatuan Silla (akhir abad ke-7) sebagian besar berasal dari nama-nama tempat. Beberapa bahasa ini diyakini sebagai rumpun bahasa Koreanik, tetapi terdapat pula bukti bahwa rumpun bahasa Japonik dituturkan di bagian tengah dan selatan semenanjung. Terdapat banyak usaha untuk menghubungkan rumpun bahasa Koreanik dengan rumpun bahasa lain, paling sering dengan rumpun bahasa Tungus atau Japonik, tetapi tidak ada hubungan genetik yang dapat dibuktikan secara meyakinkan.
