Kereta api Singosari adalah kereta api penumpang kelas bisnis yang melayani koridor Surabaya - Malang dan Sebaliknya. Rangkaian yang menggunakan eks KA Mutiara Selatan ini mulai diluncurkan 19 agustus 2016.

Sejarah KA Singosari

Pada awal pengoperasiannya, rute KA Senja Singosari adalah Kediri - Semarang - Pasar Senen. Karena banyaknya peminat KA Senja Kediri asal Tulungagung dan sekitarnya, terhitung tanggal 23 Desember 2009 KA Senja Kediri diperpanjang rutenya hingga Kota Tulungagung dengan jadwal kedatangan pukul 06.15 di Tulungagung.

Kemudian, mengingat tingginya permintaan penumpang KA Bisnis untuk tujuan Malang - Jakarta, akhirnya per 1 Juli 2011 rute KA Senja Singosari diperpanjang hingga Stasiun Malang; sementara uji cobanya dilakukan sejak 27 Juni 2011.

Dengan tarif atas sebesar Rp. 250.000,- dan tarif bawah sebesar Rp. 165.000,-, KA Senja Singosari diberangkatkan dari Stasiun Malang pukul 13:25 WIB sampai di Stasiun Pasar Senen pukul 06.30 WIB. Dan siangnya diberangkatkan kembali dari Stasiun Pasar Senen pukul 15.00 WIB dan tiba di Malang pukul 08:11 WIB.

Kereta api Senja Singosari tujuan Pasar Senen Jakarta pemberangkatan Stasiun Malang berhenti di Stasiun Blitar, Stasiun Tulungagung, Stasiun Kediri, Stasiun Kertosono, Stasiun Nganjuk, Stasiun Caruban,Stasiun Madiun, Stasiun Paron, Stasiun Walikukun, Stasiun Kedungjati, Stasiun Brumbung, Stasiun Semarang Tawang, Stasiun Pekalongan, Stasiun Tegal, Stasiun Cirebon, Stasiun Bekasi, Stasiun Jatinegara dan berakhir di Stasiun Pasar Senen.

Dahulu Kereta api Senja Singosari bernama KA Senja Kediri/Malang, mulai 1 Maret 2012 KA Senja Kediri/Malang resmi berganti Nama menjadi KA Senja Singosari.

Asal Usul Nama

Nama Singosari diambil dari sebuah nama kerajaan yang berpusat di Malang yang bernama Kerajaan Singosari

Kembali Beroperasi KA Singosari

Pada tahun 2016, PT KAI mengoperasikan kembali kereta api ini setelah 7 tahun mati suri dan PT Kereta Api (KA) Daerah Operasi (Daop) 8 Surabaya meluncurkan Kereta Api (KA) Singosari. KA Bisnis ini menggunakan KA Mutiara Selatan memanfaatkan KA Idle dengan tujuan Surabaya-Malang PP. Menurut Gatut Sutiyatmoko Manager Humas PT KAI Daop 8 Surabaya KA Idle ini membawa 5 rangkaian KA dengan tarif yang dikenakan Rp40ribu. Hadirnya KA Bisnis Singosari ini merupakan pilihan moda transportasi. KA yang akan di operasionalkan pada 19 Agustus 2016 ini berangkat dari Stasiun Gubeng pukul 9.55 WIB sampai Malang pukul 12.01 WIB. Sedangkan berangkat dari Malang pukul 13.15 WIB dan tiba di Surabaya pukul 15.14 WIB. Jadi ini memanfaatkan rangkaian idle, pada Malang Ekspres dulu setelah di evaluasi jamnya kurang tepat. Ini berdasarkan dari kajian dan evaluaso, karena itu kita berani luncurkan KA Singosari," ungkap Gatut, Sabtu (13/8/2016). Gatut menjelaskan PT KAI nantinya akan terus melakukan monitor terhadap KA ini. Untuk sementara akan dioperasionalkan pada Weekend (Jum'at, Sabtu, Minggu), jika animo masyarakat dapat dikatakan tinggi, bisa jadi KA Singosari dijalankan setiap hari. Mantan Manager Humas KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta ini menerangkan dengan hadirnya KA Singosari merupakan tantangan, sebab sebelumnya Daop 8 juga telah meluncurkan KA Malang Ekpres tujuan sama, namun karena animo masyarakat yang minim KA tersebut ditiadakan. Kebaradaan KA Singosari tujuan Surabaya-Malang merupakan pilihan dari PT KAI. Sebab selain KA idle ini juga ada KA Jayabaya dan KA Bima Surabaya-Malang yang dianggap memiliki fasilitas baik. KA Singosari ini dapat mengangkut 320 penumpang dengan satu KA terdapat 64 seat. Ini sekaligus mengakomodir keingan masyarakat.
