Kereta api Argo Sindoro merupakan layanan kereta api penumpang kelas Eksekutif yang dioperasikan Kereta Api Indonesia untuk melayani lintas Semarang Tawang-Gambir dan sebaliknya. Nama Sindoro sendiri berasal dari gunung berapi bernama Gunung Sindoro yang terletak sebelah timur Kabupaten Wonosobo dan sebelah barat Kabupaten Temanggung, Jawa Tengah.

Pengoperasian kereta api

Awal pengoperasian (2007–2018)

Tampak dalam kereta api Argo Sindoro saat itu, diambil saat kondektur memeriksa tiket penumpang.

Kereta api Argo Sindoro merupakan salah satu layanan kereta api Argo Muria setelah dilakukan perubahan nama pada 2007—beroperasi menggunakan rangkaian kereta dengan bogie K9. Namun sejak tahun 2002, kedua rangkaian kereta api tersebut beroperasi menggunakan rangkaian kereta kelas eksekutif buatan PT. INKA keluaran 2002. Sejak itu pula, bekas rangkaian kereta api tersebut digunakan untuk pengoperasian kereta api Argo Lawu sejak 2004. Karena dalam pengoperasian kereta api Argo Lawu sering anjlok, rangkaian kereta tersebut kembali dimutasi ke Depo Kereta Semarang Poncol pada tahun 2007—kereta dengan bogie K9 yang tidak cocok untuk jalur selatan Jawa yang cenderung lebih terjal dan berkelok-kelok.

Sejak 2007, nama pada layanan kereta api Argo Muria I diubah menjadi Argo Sindoro sejak ia kembali beroperasi menggunakan rangkaian kereta dengan bogie K9 hingga dilakukan perbaikan ulang pada awal 2010-an.

Pengoperasian mulai 2018–sekarang

Kereta api Argo Sindoro sempat beroperasi menggunakan rangkaian kereta terbaru eksekutif berbahan baja nirkarat mulai akhir tahun 2018.

Mulai 8 April 2019, kereta api ini (bersama Kereta api Argo Muria) kembali beroperasi menggunakan rangkaian kereta dengan bogie K9 setelah digunakan untuk pengoperasian Kereta api Argo Bromo Anggrek.

Dengan jadwal Kereta api Argo Sindoro dan Kereta api Argo Sindoro Tambahan berangkat dari Stasiun Semarang Tawang Jam 06.15 (KA 11 pagi I) dan Jam 06.50 (KA 7001 pagi II) dan jadwal Berangkat dari Stasiun Gambir Jam 13.05 (KA 7002 siang) dan Jam 16.40 (KA 12 sore) untuk perbedaan Kereta api Argo Sindoro dengan Kereta api Argo Sindoro Tambahan di Harga, Rangkaian Kereta dan Jadwal terbatas (untuk Kereta api Argo Sindoro Tambahan).

Kereta api Argo Sindoro dihela Lokomotif edisi vintage, melintasi Stasiun Manggarai, Jakarta

Mulai Tanggal 28 September 2022, bertepatan Hari Ulang Tahun PT Kereta Api Indonesia ke 77 Tahun, Kereta api Argo Sindoro (bersamaan dengan Kereta api Argo Muria) akan mengalami peningkatan kecepatan dari semula hanya 105 km/jam menjadi 120 km/jam.^[1]

Insiden

Pada Tanggal 21 Juni 2022 pukul 10:55 WIB, sebuah Kereta api Argo Sindoro menabrak Mobil Avanza di Perlintasan liar Walet, Tambun Selatan. Nahasnya, Mobil pun terseret hingga sekitar 1,2 km menjelang masuk Stasiun Tambun sehingga pengemudi pun meninggal dunia. ^[2]
