Kereta api Malabar adalah kereta api dengan Kelas Campuran Seperti Eksekutif, Bisnis, Ekonomi Ac yang dioperasikan oleh PT Kereta Api Indonesia di Jawa serta melayani jurusan Bandung-Malang via Kediri, pergi pulang.

Ka Malabar merupakan satu-satunya KA yang merangkai seluruh kelas, yaitu Ekonomi - Bisnis - Eksekutif Dan Barang dalam satu rangkaian Set Kereta Api. Nama kereta api Malabar diambil dari nama gunung berapi yaitu Gunung Malabar Gunung ini terletak di bagian selatan Kabupaten Bandung dengan titik tertinggi 2,343 meter di atas permukaan laut. Namun sebagian orang mengatakan nama Malabar tersebut berasal dari singkatan Malang Bandung Raya

Peresmian kereta api

Pada hari Jumat, tanggal 30 April 2010, pukul 15.30 meluncur perjalanan perdana KA Malabar (Malang–Bandung Raya) secara bersamaan baik dari stasiun Bandung maupun dari stasiun Malang. Peresmian dari stasiun Bandung akan dilakukan oleh Menteri BUMN, Mustafa Abubakar, Dirjen Perkeretaapian Tundjung Inderawan, dan Gubernur Jawa Barat Ahmad Heryawan, didampingi pejabat terkait lainnya.

Sesuai jadwal perjalanannya, KA Malabar yang menempuh jarak sejauh 779 km ini dijadwalkan tiba di Stasiun Malang pukul 07.26 WIB dengan melewati beberapa stasiun pemberhentian, yaitu Kiaracondong, Rancaekek, Cipeundeuy, Tasikmalaya, Banjar, Karanganyar,Kutoarjo, Yogyakarta, Solo Balapan, Paron, Madiun, Nganjuk, Kediri, Tulungagung, Blitar, Wlingi, dan Kepanjen. Adapun perjalanan KA Malabar dari Malang dijadwalkan tiba di stasiun Bandung pukul 04.10 WIB.

KA Malabar adalah perwujudan dari aspirasi masyarakat yang menginginkan adanya kereta api dari Bandung langsung menuju Malang, Jawa Timur. Masyarakat tinggal memilih kelas KA yang diinginkan sesuai kemampuannya, karena disediakan 3 macam kelas sekaligus yaitu Eksekutif, Bisnis, dan Ekonomi Ac Plus.

Rangkaian KA Malabar terdiri dari 2/3 kereta kelas eksekutif, 2 kereta kelas bisnis, 2 kereta kelas ekonomi AC, 1 kereta makan, dan 2 kereta bagasi. Keseluruhan KA memakai AC, serta tarifnya, untuk gerbong eksekutif, Rp200.000,00, bisnis Rp180.000,00, dan ekonomi AC Rp120.000,00.^[1]

Jadwal perjalanan

KA Malabar diberangkatkan dari Stasiun Bandung pada pukul 15.40 dan sampai di Malang pada pukul 07.48 Sebaliknya KA ini diberangkatkan dari Malang pada pukul 09.45 sampai di Bandung pada pukul 01.31.

Insiden

Pada hari Jumat, tanggal 4 April 2014, KA Malabar terguling di sekitar daerah Tasikmalaya, Jawa Barat antara petak jalan Stasiun Ciawi-Cirahayu di km 244. Hingga saat ini, empat korban dilaporkan tewas, dua korban lainnya masih terjepit di antara kereta yang terguling. KA Malabar ini terguling akibat adanya tanah longsor. Dikabarkan kereta api ini terguling ke jurang. Korban-korban KA maut tersebut dibawa ke Puskesmas Ciawi. Kejadian ini terjadi sekitar pukul 18.30 WIB.
