Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Choi Maeda Yudhoyono, M.Arch., MSc, M.Eng. Sc, M.Ec. (17 July 1992 - 31 January 2022) was a Japanese activist, musician, architect, politician, lecturer, and entrepreneur. He is the second son of one of the owners of a large company in Japan (Father), owner of a military hospital in Indonesia (Mother) and nephew of the former 6th president of Indonesia, SBY. His family is very thick with the values of patriotism and full of culture. He has two siblings, namely Choi Joshua Masahito Yudhoyono and Choi Sakura Hye Yudhoyono.
Prior to entering politics, Maeda was widely recognized as a professor and scientist in international aviation technology and the only aristocrat to date with a technocratic background. He has served as Scientist at NASA and NatGeo, Air Force Colonel Commander, United Nations Intelligence and interim Director of the World Bank (now equivalent to Deputy Governor). Currently he also leacture at the Department of Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence Lab Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a professor. By his relationships and the people who often interact with him, he is dubbed as “The man to get the job done”. He became known for being able to become an influential person in the world and a philanthropist who was able to donate US $75 million for health.

Family Background
suntingRaden Bagus Dwi Choi Maeda Yudhoyono Panengsang or Choi Maeda Yudhoyono or commonly called Maeda is the second son of a noble family from two countries. His mother (R.A.A. Shahab) is from Indonesia but she has mixed Chinese, Portuguese and Arabic blood. While his father (Mr. Choi) is a businessman from Japan, of Korean and Canadian descent.
His mother is a princess of Javanese royal descent, Mrs. Shahab is a military doctor who specializes in neurosurgery. The name "Raden Bagus Dwi" was given to Maeda from his mother's kingdom family, Raden which means "prince", Bagus "handsome/good", Dwi "second", and "Yudhoyono is his mother's surname, which indicates that they are Javanese.
From the family tree, Choi Maeda's grandfather was a patriot, political figure, and one of the most famous Javanese traditional figures at that time. The Yudhoyono family in Yogyakarta is famous for their intelligence, has many horses, and owns a coffee plantation.
Education
suntingMaeda spent his childhood in Tokyo, Japan before moving to Jakarta, Indonesia. While still in elementary school he attended the Singapore International School. After completing primary school he continued his secondary education at Monmouth Boys School and in Finland. His life was so difficult after his mother died when he was 5 years old. He has to work and help his family in managing the business. Even though Maeda is a noble child, he is not ashamed to have to sell bread or help clean up the shop with his employees. He is known as a cheerful, humble and genius person, with unlimited intelligence until at the age of 14 he successfully passed the scholarship test and received an honorary invitation to study at the best university in the world.
After completing his secondary education, he then continued his education in two departments, The Department of Architecture and Harvard Business School, Harvard University, United States (2006). During college, Maeda got many academic achievements and was successful in getting on the Double Dean's List, in Computer Science and Business courses. In 2009, he was selected by the university to take part in a student exchange program at Qatar University, Doha, Qatar.
After that, he obtained a Master of Engineering Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2011. Two years later, he obtained a Master of Economics degree from Harvard University. He obtained a Master of Science degree at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris, France. In 2016, he received his doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) in Engineering Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). During the time of his education, Maeda has been contracted by several companies and related organizations.
Career
suntingBefore entering university life, Maeda was already known as a hardworking person. His family owns a large group of companies, but that doesn't make him happy. Since childhood after school, he diligently helped his aunt to take care of the bakery and helped sell it to the market. He also often participated in the International Olympics until finally he got an invitation to study at Harvard University while working for NASA at the age of 14. While at NASA, his job was to design engines and calculate the speed formulas that had to be applied to the manufacture of rockets and connecting signals to satellites. However, it is unfortunate that all of Maeda's works have been transferred and seized by the organization because it is considered dangerous for state policy and he is not a local resident and his scholarship is at stake. For that, Maeda had to change his nationality to save his career.
Maeda worked for the Royal Air Forse, a military unit of the air force under the control of the British Empire in 2008. He did so because of family demands for a military license as part of the nobility. He received the honorary title of being selected as The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Honorary Companion of the Order of Australia (AC), Bintang Yudha Dharma Pratama, with the position of Captain CO III.
August 10, 2012 was a bright time for Maeda's career. He joined as intelligence United Nations special forces who completed many big secret missions such as Peace in Lebanon, Liberation of Afghan hostages, BlackBox 102, Human trafficking in Asia, etc. Until 2019 was the bleakest period in his career at the United Nations, he failed to complete his duty in maintaining the dignity of the people to get the results of honesty from the government, namely the results of the presidential vote that was engineered. Maeda suffered a very serious injury and required a year's recovery. But in essence he only failed in his mission, but did not fail as a leader.
The Bugatti company doesn't take Maeda's talent for granted. Maeda has worked as an executive at Bugatti since 2013, he has held the position of Director of Transportation Designer and a major shareholder there. He succeed to create Bugatti La Voiture Noire, The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300, The 2024 Bugatti Mistral Roadster, The Bugatti Divo, etc. Most of his works were limited editions and sold for over $20 million at the most.
Maeda also signed a contract with Apple-Inc in product design. He sits as Software Engineering Director. He changed the Apple system, Combined iOS and MacOS into a universal operating system, released iPhone products with new series and technologies adapted to the development of Digital 4.0, Mac M1 and Mac Air, one of the most popular is the release of the iPhone-14 with super-advanced technology. and designed with a meaningful story in it.
And in recent years, Maeda has been busy as a teaching Professor at MIT. For him "Knowledge without action is madness, and action without knowledge is futility". He felt moved to become a teacher, educating the younger generation. He also often provides counseling and open scholarships to people from various countries to be able to continue their education and achieve their goals. Approximately 125 students annually which he fully finances to go to university.
The last one that Maeda also has his own business and manages the family business as an income source of his wealth. According to Forbes, Maeda's monthly income is $22,807,239.00 not including other income (Stock and property assets).
