Tulisan Yosefus tentang Yesus

Manuskrip yang ada dari tulisan-tulisan sejarawan Yahudi-kewarganegaraan Romawi abad pertama Flavius Yosefus meliputi rujukan kepada Yesus dan asal muasal Kekristenan.[1][2] Antiquitates Judaicae karya Yosefus, yang ditulis sekitar tahun 93–94 M, meliputi dua rujukan kepada Yesus Kristus dalam Alkitab pada Buku 18 dan 20 dan sebuah rujukan kepada Yohanes Pembaptis dalam Buku 18.[1][3] Terdapat berbagai macam tanggapan dari para ahli terkait dengan keotentikan seluruh atau sebagian rujukan dalam Buku 18, Bab 3, 3 dari Antiquitates, beberapa bagian yang menyatakan bahwa Yesus sang Mesias adalah seorang guru bijak yang disalib oleh Pilatus, biasanya disebut Testimonium Flavianum.[4][5][1] Pandangan ahli pada umumnya adalah bahwa meskipun Testimonium Flavianum banyak dianggap tak otentik secara keseluruhan, mereka banyak sepakat bahwa karya tersebut aslinya terdiri dari karya utama yang otentik, yang kemudian menjadi subjek interpolasi dan/atau pengubahan.[5][6][7][8][9][10] Meskipun jati diri dan taraf redaksi Kristen masih tak jelas,[11] terdapat konsensus di kalangan ahli mengenai wujud asli dari teks Testimonium karya Josephus.[9]

Kajian modern banyak mengakui keotentikan rujukan dalam Buku 20, Bab 9, 1 dari Antikuitas untuk "saudara Yesus, yang disebut Kristus, yang bernama Yakobus"[12] dan dianggap sebagai tingkat tertinggi keotentikan di antara rujukan-rujukan Yosefus terhadap agama Kristen.[13][1][2][14][15][16] Hampir semua cendekiawan modern menganggap rujukan dalam Buku 18, Bab 5, 2 dari Antikuitas tentang penahanan dan kematian Yohanes Pembaptis juga bersifat otentik dan bukanlah interpolasi Kristen.[17][18][19] Rujukan-rujukan yang ditemukan dalam Antikuitas tak memiliki paralel dalam karya lain buatan Yosefus seperti Perang Yahudi, yang ditulis 20 tahun sebelumnya, namun beberapa cendekiawan memberikan penjelasan untuk ketiadaan mereka.[20] Sejumlah variasi ada antara pernyataan dari Yosefus tentang kematian Yakobus dan Yohanes Pembaptis dan catatan-catatan Perjanjian Baru.[17][21] Para cendekiawan umumnya memandang variasi tersebut sebagai indikasi bahwa cerita-cerita Yosefus bukanlah interpolasi, karena interpolator Kristen akan menjadikannya selaras dengan catatan Perjanjian Baru, bukan berbeda darinya.[17][22][21]
