Yanis Varoufakis
Yanis Varoufakis (bahasa Yunani: Γιάνης Βαρουφάκης, pengucapan [ˈʝanis varuˈfacis]; lahir 24 Maret 1961)[1] adalah ekonom Yunani. Ia saat ini menjabat sebagai Menteri Keuangan Yunani.[2] Dalam pemilu Januari 2015, ia terpilih sebagai anggota parlemen Yunani dari SYRIZA,[3] dan menjadi anggota kabinet Alexis Tsipras pada 27 Januari 2015.[4] Ia merupakan seorang ekonom politik, dosen, dan memiliki kewarganegaraan ganda Yunani-Australia.

suntingPada November 2010, ia bersama Stuart Holland, mantan AP Partai Buruh dan dosen ekonomi Universitas Coimbra (Portugal), menulis A Modest Proposal, buku berisi kebijakan ekonomi untuk menghadapi krisis euro.[5]
Tahun 2013, A Modest Proposal edisi keempat diterbitkan bersama ekonom Amerika Serikat James K. Galbraith. Versi ini dtierbitkan pada akhir 2013 dalam bahasa Prancis dengan kata pengantar oleh Michel Rocard, mantan Perdana Menteri Prancis. Sejak September 2011, Truman Factor menampilkan artikel-artikel pilihan karya Varoufakis dalam bahasa Inggris dan Spanyol. Varoufakis membandingkan peran ekonomi A.S. sejak 1970-an di dunia dengan makhluk minotaur.[6] Karya Varoufakis selaku ekonom mendapat pujian dari Holland dan Galbraith.[7]

Kehidupan pribadi
suntingVaroufakis saat ini menikah dengan seniman instalasi Danae Stratou.[8] Ia memiliki seorang putri di Sydney lewat pernikahan pertamanya dengan akademisi Margarite Poulos.[9]
