Kereta api Argo Muria merupakan layanan kereta api penumpang kelas eksekutif yang dioperasikan PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) untuk melayani lintas Semarang Tawang–Gambir dan sebaliknya. Nama "Muria" diambil dari salah satu gunung di Jawa Tengah, Gunung Muria.

Sejarah

Awal pengoperasian kereta api

Kereta api Argo Muria saat menggunakan rangkaian kereta lama, sekitar tahun 2002 hingga 2006

Kereta api Argo Muria pertama kali beroperasi pada 22 Desember 1997 yang menawarkan perjalanan dengan jadwal pemberangkatan pagi hari dari arah Jakarta ke Semarang dan sore hari dari arah sebaliknya menggunakan rangkaian kereta berbogie K9 sehingga menjadi salah satu kereta unggulan di zamannya. Namun, kereta api Argo Muria I sempat berhenti beroperasi pada 20–26 Mei 1998 akibat tingkat okupansi yang rendah.^[1] Selain kereta api Argo Muria I, beberapa pengoperasian kereta api penumpang juga sempat dihentikan akibat kerusuhan yang terjadi di Jakarta.^[1]

Pada 1998, kereta api ini sempat beroperasi menggunakan rangkaian kereta keluaran tahun 1965 hasil pemulihan.^[1]

Mulai 2002, kereta api Argo Muria I dan Argo Muria II beroperasi menggunakan rangkaian kereta buatan PT INKA keluaran 2002, sehingga rangkaian kereta sebelumnya digunakan untuk menambah perjalanan kereta api Argo Gede. Kereta api yang baru dioperasikan tersebut memiliki waktu perjalanan yang berkebalikan dengan Argo Muria I sehingga tersedia dua jadwal pemberangkatan kereta api relasi Semarang–Jakarta.^[1]

Sejak tahun 2007, nama "Argo Muria I" dilakukan perubahan nama menjadi Argo Sindoro dan mulai beroperasi menggunakan rangkaian kereta dengan bogie K9 yang sebelumnya pernah digunakan untuk pengoperasian kereta api Argo Lawu.^[1] Kemudian, kereta api ini kembali beroperasi menggunakan rangkaian kereta eksekutif keluaran tahun 2002 sejak rangkaian kereta api dengan bogie K9 milik Argo Bromo Anggrek dan Argo Sindoro ditarik oleh PT INKA untuk dilakukan perbaikan ulang.

Pada tahun 2017, kereta api ini sempat beroperasi menggunakan rangkaian kereta eksekutif buatan PT INKA keluaran tahun 2017.

Mulai bulan April 2019, kereta api ini (bersama kereta api Argo Sindoro) kembali beroperasi menggunakan rangkaian kereta dengan bogie K9 dalam pengoperasiannya—sebelumnya digunakan untuk pengoperasian kereta api Argo Bromo Anggrek.

Rangkaian kereta eksekutif keluaran tahun 2017 tersebut dimutasi ke Depo Kereta Cirebon (CN) untuk pengoperasian kereta api Argo Cheribon.

Tarif

Tarif kereta api ini berkisar antara Rp210.000,00–Rp600.000,00 tergantung pada jarak yang ditempuh penumpang, subkelas/posisi tempat duduk dalam rangkaian kereta, serta hari-hari tertentu seperti akhir pekan dan libur nasional. Pada hari-hari tertentu seperti akhir pekan dan libur nasional ditambahkan kereta priority. Selain itu, berlaku pula tarif khusus untuk perjalanan reguler yang hanya dapat dipesan mulai dua jam sebelum keberangkatan pada stasiun-stasiun yang berada di dalam rute berikut.

Pada budaya populer

Kereta api Argo Muria bersama kereta api kelas Argo lainnya diangkat menjadi lagu campur sari karya Cak Diqin, "Sepur Argo Lawu". yang mana disebutkan nama-nama kereta api, seperti Argo Lawu, Argo Dwipangga, Argo Wilis, Argo Muria, Argo Bromo Anggrek, dan Sri Tanjung.^[2]
