Paul-Michel Foucault (Poitiers, 15 Oktober 1926Paris, 25 Juni 1984) adalah seorang filsuf Perancis, sejarahwan, intelektual, kritikus, dan seorang sosiolog. Semasa hidupnya, ia memegang kursi jabatan di Collège de France, dengan titel "Sejarah sistem pemikiran" (History of Systems of Thought" dan juga mengajar di Universitas Kalifornia Berkeley.

Foucault paling dikenal dengan penelitian tajamnya dalam bidang institusi sosial, terutama psikiatri, kedokteran, ilmu-ilmu kemanusiaan dan sistem penjara, dan karya-karyanya tentang sejarah seksualitas. Karyanya yang menelaah kekuasaan dan hubungan antara kekuasaan, pengetahuan dan "diskursus" telah banyak diperdebatkan secara luas. Pada tahun 60-an Foucault sering diasosiasikan dengan gerakan strukturalis. Foucault kemudian menjauhkan dirinya dari gerakan pemikiran ini. Meski sering dikarekterisasikan sebagai seorang posmodernist, Foucault selalu menolak label post-structuralist dan postmodernist.
