Kereta api Matarmaja adalah kereta api penumpang kelas Ekonomi AC yang dimiliki dan dioperasikan PT Kereta Api Indonesia yang melayani koridor Malang Kotabaru-Pasar Senen. Istilah Matarmaja merupakan singkatan dari kota-kota yang dilalui oleh KA ini, yaitu Malang, Blitar, Madiun, dan Jakarta.

Kereta Api Matarmaja AC memasuki Stasiun Pasar Senen dari Malang

Atas permintaan pengguna, relasi diperpanjang hingga Blitar, lalu Malang. Pada awalnya, rangkaian kereta api Matarmaja berisi rangkaian ekonomi dan satu kereta bisnis, namun kemudian diubah menjadi keseluruhannya rangkaian ekonomi. Dalam pengoperasiannya, KA ini juga mengalami perubahan jalur. Awalnya KA ini menjalani rute selatan (lewat Purwokerto dan Yogyakarta), namun kemudian, demi mengisi kekosongan petak Semarang-Solo, KA ini akhirnya dioperasikan lewat jalur utara (Pekalongan hingga Semarang) dan kemudian berbelok ke jalur cabang arah Solo barulah kemudian menuju ke Malang. Dengan harga tiket Rp110.000,00 saat ini Matarmaja menggunakan kereta ekonomi AC terbaru.[1][2]

Rangkaian kereta

Rangkaian kereta api ini (stamformasi) terdiri atas sebuah lokomotif, 8 rankaian kereta api ekonomi AC dengan livery "Kesepakatan" (K3), sebuah kereta makan pembangkit (KMP3), satu gerbong bagasi, dan satu gerbong pembangkit.

Kereta ini singgah di Stasiun Malang, Stasiun Kepanjen, Stasiun Sumberpucung, Stasiun Kesamben, Stasiun Wlingi, Stasiun Blitar, Stasiun Ngunut, Stasiun Tulungagung, Stasiun Kediri, Stasiun Nganjuk, Stasiun Madiun, Stasiun Solo Jebres, Stasiun Semarang Poncol, Stasiun Pekalongan, Stasiun Tegal, Stasiun Babakan, Stasiun Cirebon Prujakan, Stasiun Jatibarang, Stasiun Haurgeulis, Stasiun Jatinegara, dan Stasiun Pasar Senen.

Insiden

  • Pada tanggal 22 April 2013, di daerah Bagor, Nganjuk, kereta api Matarmaja ditabrak (bukan menabrak) bus Sugeng Rahayu pada pukul 21.00. Diduga disebabkan karena sopir bus tergesa-gesa menyeberang perlintasan sebidang.[3]
  • Pada hari Minggu, tanggal 12 Juli 2015, KA Matarmaja jurusan Jakarta-Malang anjlok di Kelurahan Klemunan, Kecamatan Wlingi, Blitar. KA Malabar ini anjlok di posisi tikungan, anjloknya KA Matarmaja ini tak terjadi pada rangkaian gerbong sehingga dipastikan penumpang aman. Penumpang berhasil dievakuasi dengan bus menuju Malang. Hingga saat ini penyebab utama anjloknya KA Matarmaja masih dalam penyelidikan. Kejadian ini terjadi sekitar pukul 06.30 WIB.[4]
